I was excited to see this on the Humble Bundle Store.

Right up until I saw £49.99p.

Fifty quid?! Fuck the fuck off.

Pre order at Tesco £38.

But yeah, lately PC games have been creeping up in price.

Yeah but there's always the inevitable sale a few months down the line when it'll be twenty quid or less, and then stretching further out to the 12-18+ month timeframe, under a tenner or even under a fiver isn't an unusual price to see AAA games at.

Good, the last-gen consoles really need ditching now for games development going forward.

It's easy to see how game design has been constrained for quite a while now, especially by the RAM limitations which often led to small, segmented levels (Deus Ex HR suffered badly from this) or crazy streaming solutions like that required by GTAV.

The trailer didn't make me feel overwhelmed at how innovative or incredible the gameplay or graphics look. Sure, it's a great improvement from the last Fallout but compared to other games we now have, the graphics really aren't groundbreaking and the character modelling and physics just looks a bit 'off' as usual.

I read somewhere that this is because each object has to be drawn in frame and then a texture applied, then any lighting effects applied. Given the huge number of objects in a given room in F3, that is many calculations to render the frame, then apply physics to it. Other games do things different, by having loot in a chest for example.

I don't think I played Fallout 3, I started a few times... I think Skyrim was the game that hooked me.

Fallout 3 looks very combat heavy in the trailer. I mean, how do you translate a quest into video?

I'm somehat awe struck. It definitely looks like a whole new world graphically. I just hope it's a very long game and they got to complete it fully without leaving some things unfinished like Fallout 3. Going stealth was probably for the best and I can just about forgive them :)

Surely this was always available, it was simply a case of packaging the mods as official downloads and giving them away. In fact, I don't see how MS cold allow this to happen in any other way, unless the strict rules for 360 have been relaxed for bOne?

It's great to see how they went from the "always-online" and "online-authentication" to this. Basically, it just shows that they're losing and are making an effort.

Got my pre order in for the pip boy edition for PC.

Game's website collapsed so I had to wait over an hour on the phone, then wait for a call back.

Still, it's ordered :)

I don't want an unkillable canine sidekick. The fuck am I, Tom Hanks?

Where has this thing for animals come from?

Fallout is an RPG and my person probably hates having a dog or something.

In case anyone hasn't seen it yet, the 'Fallout Shelter' game is available on iOS, not sure about Android. You're a vault overseer, putting your vault dwellers to work. Standard resource management stuff, but it's fallout, so yay.

That app connects to the pip boy so you can use it in game apparently. Then it dawned on me that I have a Blackberry Passport. I'll probably buy a Swees Android phone for that then :)

I hope they've used New Vegas' take on companions where you score XP if your companion kills something because Fawkes was an XP killing machine..

Looks like you can leave the dog at the garage should you want to go it alone.

I've got them all also. In fact, I have two versions of the PC "Fallout 3", the lunch box edition, the BOS edition and the New Vegas box set.

So if it's available in the UK I will probably buy it any way, just for the nuke.

Why bother, though? It won't include Fallout 4, so is hardly a definitive collection - they'll just grab more money off you in the future for the "ultra nuke" that includes it - probably a few months before Fallout 5 is due.

Have you played 1&2? I might buy it just so I can own yet another version of those two.

I don't have a choice, it's too pretty...

The only thing I don't own is the original Pip Boy clock, on account of it being a bit crap (most of them broke or didn't work from the start) and being around $600. I've got a pre order down for the Fallout 4 one, the nuke I want.

They're not stupid are they? stick a load of bargain bin games in a plastic nuke and charge £50 for it. But my collection denotes I must have it, sadly. One of these days I will take it all out of storage and set it upon some shelves I need to put up, yes.

It makes me happy. If you think that's stupid? fair enough. TBH I'll take all the fuckin' happiness I can get.

I agree with you, it is stupid. Totally stupid. I always used to go round my mate's house and think "What a stupid cunt, he's got collector's editions everywhere "

And then I played Fallout 3 and realised what it was to truly submerge myself into it. And because of that they have me by the bollocks. But, as I said, it does make me happy. Very very happy. Even now I look over my collection from time to time and reminisce all of the wonderful, wonderful moments in the game. You can't put a price on that.. Bethesda have earned my money for all their shit they sell.

I really expected the announcement for it mid last year (there were a lot of rumors leading up to one of the big award shows) - no idea why they held back the announcement like they did but it does not really matter its a day 1 buy regardless.

I think they have just learned not to put on pressure or deadlines tbh. Best to just 'do a Valve' and get it all ready and stable before even announcing it.

I suppose that's nice if you don't have or like any other games. I have literally dozens, if not hundreds, of games waiting to be played... I spent 67 hours on Fallout 3 (according to Steam), and that was more than enough.
