I'd watch out, this one might contain dark souls 3 spoilers

Annoyingly, the only benefit of killing the tree was some kind of soul transmutation device. Which I can't use. And not enough souls to level うp。

Just for Ian and the like, some more videos of me killing hard things.

First off, what appears to be the mother of all crystal lizards.

It's down a path which had a tutorial note on it suggesting that I pull back. But at the time, it was the only path I could find (I was being particularly blind this day, apparently). It hit hard, and I was rather expecting it to be like the 1st boss of Demon souls (You're supposed to die, but it is beatable) so I didn't try that hard not to die. And I died, and nothing happened. So attempt two:

Which, of course, gives an upgrade material (Crystal lizard, yo) but no path forwards. Leaving me not quite sure where to go next. It turns out what I thought was a cliff was just a trick of the light.

And look at this, videos of the first two bosses. The first was easy (1st attempt)

The second took just under an hour of attempts. First phase is easy, second phase, not so much.

From yesterday, 4th boss what I done met. Killed. Twice. Not too difficult, but quite easy to get hit by lots of spells towards the end and lose all your health.

Man, only one more day of smugness.

A word of advice w.r.t builds...

If, like me, you go for a pyromancer, don't expect to go for a big bashy man with extra bonus flames, like you could in dark souls 1. Powerful pyromancy does require more than a glove now.

This has caused me to be fairly underlevelled for the whole game so far.

Currently at

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Irushiiru of the Icy Valley (which is almost certainly transliterated differently, but still). Bugger me those spinny people hit fast. And the dog thing is a right chompy bugger.

Boss to get there was a right dick. Not a particular fan of the timed boss idea in general, and had to spend lots to create a big bashy club that could destroy him before the room became uninhabitable. With that he were piss easy.

Im going to try my best to not do my usual thing of going for a pyromacer build morphing over to medium weight sorcerer / hexer with long reached weapon.

Does the new weapon style/stance thingy make much difference, Mr Dave?

Honestly, I've forgotten it's there for the most part as I usually have a shield ready instead, and the arts on the weapons I use aren't the greatest. (reduce damage? Pffft.) the FP generally gets used for pyromancy if anything (flamey halberd joy).

Having said that, I don't know what the art is on my new smashy club. And given how long it can take to read what each skill is, I only know the weapons I use, so there may be all kinds of awesome that I'm missing.

I could swap the buttons if I wanted to - the controller is configurable in the ps4 system menu. And for the most part, my knowledge of Japanese has been sufficient. (And gives the game a quite different atmosphere.)

Nope - I saw the sign that said 'stay away' - saw it in the distance - ran in and grabbed the item nearby and ran away like a coward this was the 'knight'

An hour and 20 minutes or so of failing - I made it to the shrine

Spoilers for the first 5 minutes of everyone elses game (or the first hour and a bit of mine)

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Did not help that it was late last night - or that i kept blocking / defending *two* hits and then consistently got hit on the 3rd
I also think it helped when i got killed too quickly and 'lost' the saved souls i had so i then did not care about them or about farming the few minions around

As you can see later on - Ninja man killed me many times until i decided to look at alternative routes.

Aye, its the playstation camera.

I picked one up for £30 in prep for VR.

Just spent ten minutes wasting time because it wouldn't let me press x against a bonfire. Now back on track.
