I don't think people really appreciated that unlike an election there is no way to hold anyone to account for lying to them. The whole thing has been a fraud perpetrated on people by the right wing of the tory party. It's unforgiveable and shameless.

I'm in Cornwall this week (Tintagel) there were vote leave posters everywhere.

I was surprised as a great many of the tourists spending here out of season where from the EU.

Was also a shock to see the sea of blue on the map of the UK showing who voted in\out by county

He was part of the other leave campaign, wasn't he? Should have been a bigger deal that he was seen as so toxic that his group wasn't the official one. But he muddled through.

I voted to stay, but I think you are wrong to blame the result on right alone.

A lot of people voted to leave as they are pissed off with distant UK government and see the EU as extension of this, also think some just wanted to go against Cameron and previous PM’s

Also a lot of our laws are made by unelected EU officials which is also pissing people off.

Then Immigration, its easy to say there are positive’s, but there are also negatives for a lot of people as well, this issue has been ignored by government, so based on a belief if will change if we leave the EU many people voted this way.

I’ve had this feedback from a lot of people I know who voted leave, all of them dislike Farage and the far right, and none of them are racists. So there is more to the result that some right wing propaganda, 50% of the UK can’t be right wing and racist

This is really heartening. I'm just expecting everyone in Europe to hate us even more than I sometimes feel they do, even though I'm sure that I, and my friends here, want this far less than even most of our lovely European friends.

Seriously, no-one hates you! Nor your country! An unsettling amount of people will feel "I wanna leave EU too" feelings, boatloads of people will feel "ugh, gutted about the result, auch that is gonna hurt the UK" feelings and these people will also be worried like we all are, about global economy effects and domino effects and the like, but surely not anger, and if they do then they are sad sad peoples.

We shouldn't focus on the short-term economics. After the ERM fiasco people (er, well, dad, actually) reckoned they were worth about half as much as the day before. But it was a statement of fact, rather than cause for panic - things recovered well enough then.

They may not do this time. But the day after isn't the time to tell. And there are far more powerful things to focus on - short term economics just gives leavers something to say "don't panic" and, later, "told you so!" about. If we focus on short term falls then short term rises give them propaganda wins they don't deserve.

They did , with a lot of assurances around things would change for the better for Scotland (the pledge >Link<) some of which have not been followed (yet) , and with this result I think a number of others will not be possible.

After the Scottish referendum we then had a general election where Scotland did not vote for the Conservatives and yet we have a conservative government.

We then had last nights vote where over 60% of scotland (a majority in every area) voted to stay in the UK and yet the overall vote was out.

From all of that its very easy to play the 'Scotland is not being listened to' card
