Post subject:  Recording something off BBC1 to keep forever

I may have already mentioned it but I may be appearing on BBC1 next Tuesday night.

Unfortunately, I don't have any way to record it so that's where I'm asking for help.

Does anyone have a way to record it and send it me please? Ideally, I'd like to have it on my PC but I'm not sure what's possible so any help would be very much appreciated.

It's a good job we've got our good looks Malia because our computer skills aren't getting us anywhere.

Brilliant! Thanks Davpaz! That's most excellent of you. I'll send a signed 10x4 in the post for you and because you're great, I'll only charge you the postage and printing costs.

Thanks Zaphod. I'm not on a Mac but if you could grab it too, you can be the backup in case anything goes wrong.

Is that Alastair MacGowan to the left of you? And Maquita Oliver to the right?

(here I am, stuck in the middle... etc.)

All 3 of you are right.. I may have added myself to that picture but that's clearly because I was an oversight by whoever designed it. They must have run out of time or not had a good enough picture of me or something.

You could do that but you may be dying of thirst by the end of it.... I'm not sure you'll see much more of me than the trailer suggests.

It amazes me that someone has picked my clip as the clip to entice people in to watching the programme.

My mom loved it.

That penny flipping gamble. Is there a name for it, as it's proving difficult to Google, and I love reading about cons and scams.

That's true. When brummies get lost and ask where they are in the black country they often get confused and think they're in a massive Chinese restaurant.

Post subject:  Re: Recording something off BBC1 to keep forever

I work for the local council and the production team came to us asking if we could do a press release as they were looking for extras to star in it. We couldn't do the release (some silly rules) but I saw the email and responded saying that I would be happy to help out. A couple of my colleagues did the same too but they didn't speak in the programme.

I sent over a selfie to the casting producer and she called me back saying she loved the beard and had the perfect part for me... If I was up for it. Who wouldn't be? A couple of the crew skyped me that evening and talked me through what they wanted me to do. I only live down the road from where it was filmed so it was a no brainer... and I also got paid!

It was a long day though. I think I got there at about 6am and didn't leave until way past 11pm. It rained most of the day too. They did look after us though with plenty of food and drinks and everyone there was lovely so even though there was a lot of hanging about, it didn't drag.

Sorry Russ, I've just seen this. I had a bit of trouble Googling it too. It wasn't much of a scam really, what you saw in the programme was basically what went on. The pies weren't up to much in those days though so I can't begin to imagine what the meat was.

The pies I had on the programme were actually pasties. The production crew had a great idea to order the pies from London and have them couriered up to Dudley. Unfortunately, the courier left without the pies so they had to get the Black Country Museums kitchen staff to make the pies. The best they could do was pasties.

They were nice though.
