It was only in the charts for one day, right?

[edit] Yeah, SWBF1 came out on a Tuesday, and SWBF2 came out on Friday, so it stands to reason that boxed copies are down on a chart compiled on Friday night, doesn't it?

Plus boxed isn't a great picture these days. I suspect a lot of people bought the digital deluxe version.

Chart days are different in the UK and US, so you might be comparing across countries there, I think. UK charts run Friday to Friday, US ones run Tuesday to Tuesday. That's why games (mostly) release on those days, and why we (mostly) wait a few days to get games compared to the US.

Edit -- I can't tell the source of the screenshot chart listing.

I was dubious about the "marketed at children" bit of that but

http://www.esrb.org/ratings/Synopsis.as ... lefront+2+
"Teen: Content is generally suitable for ages 13 and up. May contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling and/or infrequent use of strong language."

Whether it's a fair criticism or not, it's a bad look for EA and Disney.

This isn't doing particularly well in reviews.

Single player is short and uneven, (when it's good it's very good, when it's bad it's horrid), of the five multiplayer modes only two are any good, and whist the microtransactions might be gone the loot box system still hobbles it.

Seems to be a 5/10 to 6/10 kinda deal at a lot of places, just taken on its merits as a game.

Angry Joe's review is pretty good. He goes for 6/10.

The pre relase footage looked really good, I held of getting it on the XBox as Grim advised this was a 16 rated game so didn't want my son all over it as he loves Stars Wars.

Thought about getting the PC version but not so sure now :(

Because multiplayer matches in this game reward credits at a flat rate regardless of how well, or how much you do, you simply need to be 'in attendance' for a match (i.e. avoid getting kicked as AFK) to get as many credits as the best player on your team.

Which has, of course, led to this.

But they don't - you get kill bonuses and objective bonuses.

The lies around this game - especially from people like Eurogamer - are starting to get really silly now.

I read it on the internets so it must be true.

In the Angry Joe review he showed how the top ranked player in a match got about 30 credits more than the bottom ranked player in the same match who basically did nothing.

Eurogamer doesn't say you get a flat number of credits. It just says you can get a number for match participation using this trick because it evades an AFK kick. Where is the lie?

To be fair Hearthly invented the bit about flat earning of credit, the article doesn't say anything of the sort.

A lie is a deliberate intent to deceive, if what I said is not the case then it's a mistake.

EDIT - Looks like the accrual of credits has been changed to make it somewhat performance based, albeit you still get a reasonable amount just for showing up and not getting kicked as AFK, hence the 'elastic band farming' is a viable tactic to earn credits, which it really shouldn't be. Try that in a Battlefield game and you'll get precisely fuck all.

So anyway, not a lie, a mistake.

$3.1bn wiped off the value of EA following the backlash to their implementation of this game.

Given that Lucasfilm only cost Disney $4bn in total, that’s some good going.

Says that whilst they expect the 10$ drop in share price will influence thinking in EA it won't be immediate as the share price is still 25$ higher than 12 months ago.

It's probably a bit too late to save the game unfortunately, but EA/DICE have basically ripped Battlefront 2's progression system to pieces and started again.

Quote:
EA DICE appears to be going the whole hog: ability-giving Star Cards, and any other item which affects gameplay, are being pulled out of Crates (the game's loot boxes) for good. You will unlock and upgrade Star Cards using Skill Points earned by levelling up classes, heroes or ships.

Crates will only contain cosmetic items, like emotes and victory poses, and nothing that affects gameplay - and you will not be able to buy them. Crates will be earned through a combination of daily log-ins and completing challenges and milestones.

I’ve started playing this.

I clicked on the button that said Campaign. It only took 4 more sub menus to find Actually Start The Campaign Now.

Then it started with a stealth mission.

This ain’t going well at all.

So I was rushing about PEW PEW PEW and jumping around PEW PEW and killing the Rebs PEW PEW PEW PEW then I notice I didn’t need to do any of that. FYI: this is the hardest difficulty mode.

I think the game engine is badass, it looks great (although a little static a motionless), it’s silky smooth at 60 fps, the space battles looked fantastic and I quite like some of the characters too. Del is instantly likeable and I thought his conversation with Luke was reasonably well done.

But the game is just so by the numbers. Luke plays like dogshit, I can’t understand the card system in the main game, the enemy AI awful; soldiers jerk about in the scenery, stand still, bob up and down like idiots, your companions barely shoot anything and just stand next to enemies as they miss shooting each other from 5 feet, mission are just boring; defend such and such for 3 minutes, then again and then again; defend a guy while he’s “hacking” (urgh) and so on and so on. Forced walking sections, uncanny faces, stealth, holding square, holding square, holding square.

Frankly I’m going to bump it down to easy, smash through it and pretend it’s a nice looking but vacuous Saturday morning CG cartoon.

I’m done with the main story and unlocked the extended epilogue. I’m reet bored of this now. This must be how Hearty felt playing TLOU2.

There’s some truly awful characters seeping in; what was that guys name again? Palindrome or something? Fuck was up with that guy. Mind you, the VAs for the people you know are good. I’d swear that was actually Mark Hamill & Harrison Ford even if it isn’t.

Still, I’m going to give this an extra point at the end because C3-P0 isn’t in it.
