We should give this its own thread I think.

Kickstarted a couple of years ago and finally released a couple of days ago. A modern version of the old school RPG, think Planescape: Torment or Baldur's Gate.
It is utterly brilliant, and looks gorgeous, I spent most of yesterday playing it.
Good story, well written and acted, great character creation, huge amount of depth to it, but not too faffy to play.

It's just lovely. If you used to be into these sort of games, then you need to buy it.

Is it very demanding? My computer has already 7 years (2.6Ghz Dual Core,AMD 6700,4gb ram).

Besides, i still have Grimrock 2, Divinity: OS and Wasteland 2 to play.

No idea i'm afraid. I've got a reasonably meaty machine and have no problems, but that doesn't help you :D

This game is nice, after 10 hrs of play have just managed to make it to the city. Also dont make the mistake of playing it on hard....

I had not heard of this game, and now I urgently, desperately need it. BG and PS:T were my favouritest PC games of all time.

I'm going to have to find out if it's remotely likely that it will run acceptably on my laptop though. I await disappointment.

Come to think of it, I never actually completed BG2 or the expansion. Mrs K and the kids are still away so I reckon an evening playing BG2 on the big screen is in order. Yay!

Have you got Image?

makes it much nicer to play through again, same with Icewind Dale.

But tbh Pillars of Eternity is fucking amazing, check if it will run on your PC here.

Started off playing the game all Mr nice guy, now it appears the inner bastard of my Flame aspect Godlike Warrior is coming out, the choices you can make in this game can be hilarious.

I've got the original versions of all the BG and ID games. I'm not paying again for a slgihtly better "enhanced" version >:/

Will check the specs for Pillars when I get home - thanks!

I didn't ever play Baldur's Gate or the like, but I picked up Divinity Original Sin and liked that, and I'm enjoying this. Combat takes a little getting used to after being turn-based in Divinity, but I'm past the first "proper" boss and have learnt important lessons about actually paying attention to what's happening.

Ooh, out for Mac too. Might have snapped this up if I hadn't already got Bloodbourne. Will probably get this at some point though.

I'm 14 hours in...

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Thought I would take a look under the stronghold. Got my arse handed to me by a Drake on floor 5, so I actually did a bit of planning and used the doorways as choke points to take him out. Thought that was the end...
I'm now at floor 8 and had to retreat till I level up a bit (currently L6). It appears to go a lot deeper than I expected! :D

Yeh the Drake gave me a few probs when I first came to him, did you drop down the blood well to get to him or fight the 4 floors above?

Have a lev 7 party now, made the mistake of thinking I could easily handle a few of the Bounty Quests....oops

Have you gotten any of the weapon or armour crafting recipes yet? I havent :(

Dropped down the pit first time, then had to fight my way out to the main staircase so I could get out and regroup :D

I've done nothing regarding crafting or enchanting or anything like that. Can't work out how you get the recipes?
Plus i'm struggling to work out which weapons and armour are upgrades, as I don't seem to be finding anything that is any better as I go through the game. All the reward items I get have the same damage as the items i already have, with maybe a +1 to will or some crap like that.

Post subject:  Re: Pillars of Eternity

Lol same here. Have found a few named.items which have slightly better stats for a few slots. But other than that seems to be a case of the bonus Will etc...

Seem to have found a load of food potion and scroll recipes (not sure when or how) but no armour or weapons recipes.

My castle is looking pretty shit at the moment, have focused on building up all the defense things first, so it still looks pretty derelict. But God help any attackers :D

Still feel pretty lost a lot of the time, but am thoroughly enjoying this game.

Lost a load of castle upgrades today. It's still quite a buggy game :D

Ohhh worked out how to enchant/upgrade gear.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Right click on the item, from your inventory or while it is equipped. At bottom of description window is the enchant button. This game could do with explaining things a tad better...but hey, still awesome

Just spunked all my gathered regs on the Armour and Weapons of my main party, all have shiny glowing weapons now :D
