We got given one of those, a right faff to clean. Much prefer this one from ikea:

Let's hope he/she gets pretty much everything from Mimi.

I am massively freaky in all attributes, and would not want to curse a baby with any of my traits.

Post subject:  Re: Important Baby News

Aw, thank you all so much, folks!

It was a difficult couple of months, and I have been very ill and worried, and I've had a pretty hard time trying to convince myself that things might be OK, but though I still get the occasional bout of feeling bad I'm no longer fainting or being sick, and I've even made it back to work as of yesterday, so I think it is onwards and upwards.

The worry of health and past complications was compounded by all the problems I was having at work which ended, over 8 weeks ago, with me just trying to balance out the fact that I was having a mental breakdown with work pressure with happy baby news. Yesterday was hard, stepping back into that arena, but I hope that I can make it through with grit and determination. And tummy rubs from everyone from managers to the post ladies. Come and rub my tummy, it's the done thing it seems.

Russell has been amazing. You know, I love him dearly, but he has managed better than I ever thought he would. One thing stays with me, and that's that he said the sound of the bathroom cabinet closing puts dread and fear in his soul because that was the sound he heard when I passed out in our bathroom and cut all my head and face open. Now I think how much better I feel, but how bad I had been.

It's nice to tell people now. I have felt so alone, two months sat here alone with so many thoughts just whirring around, and so many worries. I have so much support from Russell, but the world outside of that seemed pretty empty for a while.

The vast majority of people who now know have been so supportive and loving, I feel as if I am back in the world.

I am going to have a look at all those links now. We've just allowed ourselves little first glimpses of baby things, again in hope, and it makes me feel so warm and squiggly inside.

I'm sure we'll also be asking for pushchair advice, because man, does that seem like a minefield! I think one of those 'travel systems' seems to look like a good idea (with the carseat/pram/buggy... three interchangeable bits - would hopefully last a few years?) But goodness me, it makes my head spin.

We're going to book and NCT course. I don't know anyone around here, let alone any parents. I hope that it will just give us someone to speak to about it all as much as anything.

NCT courses are awesome.

Actually the courses themselves are mostly rubbish, but having a group of people going through the same things and with a kid of the same age is invaluable.

Our lot are turning 4 around now, and we're still meeting up and stuff; going on a camping holiday with them all again this year!

We'll all be as helpful as we can be, though take anything we say as just options and possible advice; every kid is different and people get super emotional about raising a child. Whatever way you do it, don't get hung up on thinking you're doing it wrong. Easier said than done, but unless you're leaving it in the bath unattended or something, you guys will be awesome.

Bit early but this is worth a look for the birth

http://www.hypnobirthing.co.uk/

My wife was very into this, I have to admit I was not convinced but went along with it, this included 3 Saturdays on a course and endless practice every night.

When it came to the birth of our son, he was 2 weeks late so my wife was induced, my son was not keen to come into the world so my they kept having to stop and start things as he was getting stressed. She was monitored throughout the whole process as a result.

For induced babies they inject women with Syntocinon which is a natural hormone that starts things off. I always remember the midwife saying that she had never seen a women not scream for an epidural on the levels of Syntocinon my wife was been given.

She did the whole thing on gas and air and hypnobirthing exercises. She had an overall pretty good birth with no real issues.

Everyone is different but hypnobirthing is well worth a look as I've no doubt now that it helps.

Also with birthing plans, make one and choose what ever you want, but understand you could end up having to scrap it all due to things out of your control. My wife had a pool booked but had to be in bed monitored for the whole thing. Now she wants a bloody pool at home for the 2nd one!

My wife did the hypnobirthing thing for our second.

We would both heartily recommend it.

Is this the first full-Beex baby? As in two proper members here who got together after the inception of the forum? I know we have plenty of half-Beexers.
