About a year or so ago now yet another expensive office chair failed on me. It was a leather deal but the arse foam went and I was sitting on plywood and to add insult to injury the gas strut went and would slowly go down.

Any way long story short I discovered Herman Miller and after a lot of searching I found an immaculate almost new Sayl chair for £130 delivered (guy was local).

Any way, I can see what the fuss is about. The arse foam is solid and dense and in the year or more that I've been sitting in it it hasn't changed one bit. It's still every bit as firm as it was the day I bought it.

The issue I have with this chair is that it's a tiny bit small for me and due to it being so firm and well made after about three or so hours of sitting in my my tailbone area and arse begin to ache. I tried buying a cushion for it but sadly my fat arse just squelches straight through it and it hasn't helped.

None of this is a reason to buy a new chair, as if I sit in it properly it's very comfy for up to a few hours and let's face it, who sits in a chair for that long without getting up a few times? Problem is Fallout 4. I know what sort of time periods I will be playing it for an I'm, concerned about my poor bum.

So I'm now in the market to buy a new chair with a budget of up to £400. I have seen that the Herman Miller Aeron sells new for around £900. However, I have managed to find a nearly new one in perfect condition on Fleabay for around £400 delivered.

Should I go with this? or should I consider something else?

For any chair to beat this Sayl it would probably have to be able to survive a nuclear strike. It really is a fabulous chair. Also note that I'm quite a big chap these days. 5'10 and 17 stone so it needs to be able to take some weight....

I could hook my PC up into the 65" TV quite easily but I would be stuck at 1080p and I want to play the game at 4k.

You want a Charles Eames recliner. Good luck finding one for less than a grand though

Replicas are quite abundant at around £400 but they don't lift so you have to sit back. That would be fine, but I need to be able to sit at my desk and use the keyboard..

If I had somewhere to put my regular chair away I would probably do it, but I don't sadly.

We have them at work. Not everyone finds them overly comfortable.

I prefer the other herman miller chair design that we have, but it's hard to recommend anything given how different people like/dislike them.
