For the first time since World at War

https://community.treyarch.com/communit ... pc-in-2016

Quote:
Modding & Mapping Tools Coming to Black Ops 3 PC in 2016!

Over the years, the Call of Duty® community has proven itself to be among the most passionate in the world – and we count ourselves fortunate to make games for you.

We’ve been listening to one of your top requests and are excited to announce that modding and mapping are coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 PC!

We’ve still got a lot of work left to do, but here’s our current plan:

You will be able to create Maps & Game Modes and more!
We will include Unranked Dedicated Server Files with the tools so you can run servers with modded content anywhere you choose.
We will provide an Unranked Server Browser so you can easily find and join servers with modded content.
Closed Alpha target date: March 2016

Please remember that this is software development, so things don’t always work out exactly as planned. Sometimes features slip or drop off altogether, sometimes they get replaced with other, more awesome features as we hit into limitations of our original plans.

There is much more news to come including updates on Open Beta timing. In order to keep you informed, we’ll periodically publish developer blog posts to share our progress with our fans. Stay tuned to the Treyarch blog for more information.

And yes, this is for real.

Sincerely,

Cesar Stastny

Director of Development

So for other stuff 'fine' - however this should give the chance for Custom Zombies !

How to annoy people

I pre-ordered from Amazon - all the blurb said 'get Nuketown free' - except you dont

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015- ... -exclusive

http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/call_of_d ... r_all.html

Quote:
Black Ops 3's Nuketown multiplayer map isn't included with all pre-orders after all
Exclusive to GAME and digital pre-orders.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's bonus Nuketown multiplayer map won't be included with all pre-orders, it's been confirmed, despite Activision's marketing suggesting otherwise.

Instead, the map will only be available in physical copies brought from GAME, or with digital copies purchased via PSN or Xbox Live. The map won't be released to other players until at least spring 2016.

The exclusivity deal was spotted by UKVGDeals.com, who noticed that a recent trailer for the game stated that "GAME Exclusive for 'NUK3TOWN' content applies to physical or 'boxed' copies of Call of Duty Black Ops III Standard Edition on PS4, XB1 and PC only, while stocks last. GAME Exclusive ends Spring 2016.

"'NUK3TOWN' content is also available by ordering the PS4 console bundle, the hardened and Juggernog Editions or through any digital orders/pre-orders."

That's in contrast to Activision's official support website which states that "all retail pre-order copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops III will include an in-box code to redeem to download NUK3TOWN".

"All players who pre-order or pre-purchase Call of Duty: Black Ops III on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC will receive the NUK3TOWN Bonus Map for Call of Duty: Black Ops III multiplayer, including players who pre-ordered or pre-purchased prior to the announcement of NUK3TOWN."

Nuketown is described by Activision as the "most popular multiplayer map in the Black Ops series", having debuted in the original 2010 game. It was later remade for Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 launches at midnight tonight on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. We checked out the Xbox 360 version earlier today, but discovered that it looks and performs worse than the original Call of Duty: Black Ops…

I've not had much of a chance to play it but it has shitty bits to it

Shitty :
After install it downloads 'stuff' and lets you only play with some bits until thats done (and the indicators for what its doing / how long it has to go are terrible)
No HC Domination
The 'professional' mode where you ban items / include them is a faff and does not really work (I've tried 3 matches with it so far and never even got one to start)
Lobbies are broken (yes the basic lobby system) it and will often dump you in a lobby with too many people then just sit there and do nothing (i.e. your in a lobby with max 12 players and there are 15 in there - when people leave it starts searching for more people but it will never actually get anywhere)
Not getting the 'bonus map for pre-ordering' because they sold it as a special to one retailer still annoys me

Good :
The Giant (Zombies) is a well put together 'old zombies' feeling map(since its a copy of one from WaW thats to be expected but i've probably spent more time on it than anything else)
Shadows of Evil seems enormous as a map and has a lot of stuff to do
Zombies mode had levels you can rank up and anything your unlocking gun wise carries over between multiplayer and Zombies
'other' modes - A freerunning trial set that reminds me a little of the training maps from Mirrors Edge / Nightmare mode / Dead Ops Arcade 2
The Multiplayer is fast / responsive / feels like COD and the specialists give you some interesting bonus items to use / the scorestreaks and guns do not seem unbalanced at the moment

I've not tried the campaign but the fact that its 4 player co-op should be good and will actually encourage me to play (I hardly touched the single player for either AW or Ghosts)

Yes , its downloading more - all you can do is Shadows of evil - in the 'main' screen there is a tiny bar in the little box in the top left and its downloading it there - but it really does not explain that.

It will download Multiplayer first and then the campaign , and then the other bits.

Post subject:  Re: Call of Duty 12 : Black Ops 3

Me and Zaphod played some of the multiplayer last night.

My thoughts are: it's more of the same but with new maps. I know, right? You didn't see that coming.

I'm not entirely sold on the wall running but I like it, it's just that sometimes it's a bit fiddly and it's clear that there are lots of areas of each map with vertical walls above drops to your death just for this single mechanic. When it does work best it's for just running across building walls and around corners. It's often quite funny to be running along and someone appears in the opposite direction clinging to the wall to shoot you. But I miss the double jump boost and the dash manoeuvres of COD:AW. I thought that refreshed CoD no end whereas this ... doesn't. So much, anyway.

It's still early days though and there were a few maps that came up in rotation that neither Zaphod or I had played despite being levels 8 & 12.

The weapons are alright so far but nothing is standing out. At least the pistols sound meaty for a change from AW pat ethic affair. The menu system is irritatingly full of shit though and navigating your way around is more of a nightmare than in any previous CoD game that preceded it. What's wrong with words in a list? Now I've got to press the options button on the right screen or maybe triangle in a weapon attachment or fucking options, scroll with the shoulder buttons and select some fucking graphic. The UI is a mess.

I'm going to say that CODBLOPS3MP is 'alright' at the minute.

I'll still play both but my 'default' will be BLOPS , and of course i'll be playing more Zombies on this rather than the AW version.

I would not be surprised if they have some type of sale for the AW map packs in the next few weeks.

Get a PS4 !

I've played a bit more Zombies now and both maps are good , but i much prefer 'The Giant' , more because I know where things are and how the map works whereas for Shadows I'm still lost and wandering.

Few more extras for 'The Giant' - the Gumball machine does throw in some extra twists and the new hit mechanic (you can take 3 hits now without Jug) but the zombies are more vicious (runners at round 3) and doubleswipe more often
Double Pack-a-punching weapons gives them a special elemental ability - I had one where shooting the zombies produced clouds of fireworks (theres also a thundergun & a lightning type)

Playing Shadows with Saturnalian last night - we got a big Cthulhu type monster which spawned about round 8 yesterday which killed both of us - reminds me a little of the Panzer Zombie from Origins.
The map itself is much more like Mob of the Dead (which is one of my favorites) but I do think the 'setup' to perform rituals and open up Pack-a-Punch will mean that it may keep out newbies (and the fact that Matchmaking is broken buggers it up playing anything other than solo or with a party)

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2 ... three-days

Quote:
Black Ops 3 sells $550 million in three days

The Black Ops brand of Call of Duty continues to be a popular one with players. Activision Publishing today announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 sold through more than $550 million in its three-day opening weekend.

The publisher said that total bests the last two years' installments of the series, Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, but it's tough to say by how much. When Ghosts launched in 2013, Activision moved away from the first-day sell-through revenue estimates it had previously given to say it had shipped $1 billion worth of the game to retailers worldwide for the launch day. When Advanced Warfare launched, it skipped game-specific performance entirely to say the Call of Duty franchise had topped $10 billion in revenue. To find a bigger Call of Duty launch, one would (presumably) have to look back to 2012's Black Ops 2, which sold $500 million in its first 24 hours on sale.

Activision also emphasized growth in download revenues for Black Ops 3, saying digital sales of the game on Xbox One and PS4 were nearly double the number posted by Advanced Warfare on those platforms in its first three days on sale. On PS4 in particular, Black Ops set a record as "the best-selling digital full game by units sold in its first day of availability."

The publisher also touted player engagement, saying the hours per player three days post-launch is the highest its ever been for Call of Duty, with Twitch determining it as the most streamed and most viewed game launch of the year.

"Call of Duty's millions of passionate fans have shown us, yet again, the strength of their commitment to this enduring franchise," said Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick. "Call of Duty: Black Ops III is the biggest entertainment launch this year in any medium, and bigger than any theatrical opening weekend ever."
