I saw a picture of a 'planetary cake' on facebook at the weekend and thought it'd be great for the cottage, although transporting it would be an arse.

I'm bringing 'Dominion' (the base set). Happy to teach people this game as it's fast becoming one of my favourites.

Although it strikes me that it's a lot of cake and no icing. I'm not sure that's allowed.

Magmificent. A great idea to its very core. You could earn a real crust making those. Who will take on the mantle of this great endeavour? Etc.

The outermost layer is icing from that picture surely?

Yeah, sorry, I meant in the middle. I like at least an inch of icing in my cakes - that's the best bit ;)

Oh man, that's the most awesome thing I've seen for a good while, reminds me of Jupiter.

I can live with limited icing availability, when the cake has a metallic hydrogen centre. :D

Who ices the inside of cakes?!

Do you mean "filling", like buttercream or something?

Buttercream is a great word. It's like someone just said "these two things are awesome. Let's combine them" and came up with something that was...awesome. If only it worked with baconboobs.

I like the way you excluded the next two words, which describes what it is when it's not on the outside of the cake.

Question "What does Mr Dave like"

Even my dreams have it in for me.

What, "or filling"? That's because you'd already said filling - i.e. it can be either icing or filling - neither that, nor the sentence in full, makes what I said wrong.

Now if it had said "or filling when used inside cakes" that would exclude it from being called icing when used as a filling, but that's not what it says.

I think they assume the reader can grasp the basic "inside / outside" concept.

Still, if you click on the icing link, you get to read

When it is used between layers of cake, it is called filling.

It being called filling doesn't stop it being an icing though? Hence why it's in the icing wiki: it's still icing - same ingredients, same ratio of butter to icing sugar, same thing.

But sometimes you have things that are the same. Like wood in a frame in a wall with hinges . Most of the time it is a door, but sometimes it is ajar.

Same thing, different names. Probably to stop discussions like this.

Well, that's the icing in the cake. OH NO WAIT
