Has anyone ever tried Pukka Pies? They’re always available at the shops I go to, but fucked if I’m going to have one instead of a hunk of cod.

Hollands pies are better.

The steak pie from Pukka is ace. None of this kidney or potato bollocks to pollute the pie, just lovely meat and lovely pastry.

Only problem is, I can't think of a single chippie near me that sells just the steak pie - they normally only sell the potato/mushroom/kidney variants.

Their balti pie is awesome. I'm aware, of course, that a curry pie sounds so wrong on all sorts of levels, but the reality is bloody excellent.

(I wouldn't eat one of those with Champagne, though. Probably a recipe for Cold Fusion, I'd have thought)

Also, cod is wrongness btw, haddock all the way. Oh yeah.

Haddock is better than cod under laboratory conditions yes. However under real life conditions the best is whichever is not already sat on the warming plate and so will be fried fresh to order.

All fish, shellfish, squid, or anything else that comes from the sea. Never been able to stand the stuff, and I think I'm too set in my ways to change although I have tried stuff from time to time.

On a trip to US, some re-enactor friends took me to an 'all you can eat' fish café that was quite famous where we were. Whilst they spent the hour woofing fish by the barrel down their throats, I awkwardly poked one on my plate for an hour but could barely get through it. I was still charge the full rate though. Gah.

I had seafood on Saturday. Before then I liked seafood. I may never have seafood again.
