Yep! I've only had two sets of four days off and I was on call over NYE, and getting up for work this morning was still horrible. I hate to think how those who've been off for two weeks feel.

Grumpy. It doesn't help when virtually the first person I spoke to was the company Village Idiot being vague about how some speakers might have got a bit broken.

I worked from home on Monday and Friday last week. Not having to get up early for a bus ride was bliss.

Back to normal today. Stinky Kid sat next to me today, clearly to remind me that the holiday was over. I'm considering getting him a can of deodorant as a late Christmas present. And thank you to random stranger sitting behind me who shut the air vent that was providing the only respite from his smell.

You should be more British about it and make lots of small body language cues. Pull away from him when he sits down, make a face, that sort of thing. ;)

I once saw a woman literally spray a stinky passenger with perfume on a bus. She was sat behind him mind, so I don't think he noticed.

But yes, back to work today. Quite happy to be back to old routine actually. Going to miss the 8am starts though. And the endless sofa naps kids movies.

I should be around Paddington on the 20th. Might not be alone though* so lunches might be tricky.

Paddington is a bit arse-endy, if you can catch a tube into civilisation, we could do meatmarket again, and even invite Grim... this time.

I will try. Depends on time of meeting, too.

That Dr Who reunion show on ITV was a bit of a different theme than usual.

I noticed yesterday that streetlights on the road where I wait for my bus had been converted to white LEDs. Hell of a difference in brightness between the new ones and the orangey bulbs on surrounding roads.

I think it's a much nicer light too, it feels more like bright moonlight. Also more efficient and hopefully the newer ones are designed to cause less light pollution.

I always thought one of the main benefits of orange streetlights was that they don't reflect off fog turning a foggy street into a bright white cloud.

I'm bored. This is already a long week.

I've probably got loads of work today but I really can't be bothered.

Change freeze still in place till the 9th so this week is much like the last three, except I don't get to go home at lunchtime and I'm back to pretending I'm busy rather than playing iPad games - it's mentally exhausting!

I actually prefer to be properly busy - sitting around twiddling my thumbs is soul-destroying.

I've saved a couple of jobs to do for tomorrow when my boss is back in. I think I can drag out a mileage claim to last the morning.

I'm well busy. Unfortunately, I can't seem to shift the pre-Christmas thumb-twiddling mentality. It seems to have been made worse by having two whole weeks off. I thought I'd have been well up for being super productive but sadly not, even with two new jobs starting this week I can't muster much enthusiasm. Most things are being met with "Meh. I'll sort that out next week when it's desperately urgent and I'm under pressure."

Fuck it, I'm going in to town to get a micro sim for my phone.

Got a new battery put into my watch. Riding the down esclator at the department store, I noticed it wasn't moving. At the bottom, I switched to the up esclator and returned to the concession stand to get it re-repaired. The guy had fitted a faulty battery, so he replaced it and now it works again. I made sure I took the receipt and guarantee back with me when I left, just in case.

Moral: check your watch is working before leaving the repair stand.

Is this what you need?

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Code:
CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER 1 -- FULL GAME
-> Use word wrap to display the text correctly

Use these codes to access the game. If this file's tables don't show correctly, open the file in Windows' Notepad. To start the game, type 'manager' at the DOS prompt.

Have fun!

I saw that someone tweeted this yesterday. I'm looking forward to taking a look later on this evening.

Sounds ace.
For the really authentic experience, do you have to spend a day faffing with boot disks,MEMMAKER, and CONFIG.SYS files to finally get it to run but still without sound?

My wife just sent me a picture of my 2 year old daughter playing with my Xbox controller. How cute...

2 minutes later I get an email saying that I've bought a film called Divergent for £7.99.
