Someone I'm not friends with has just wandered into a Facebook discussion thread that was mildly slagging off homeopathy to defend it by saying, "Science has proven sugar pills to be far more effective than pharmaceutical drugs, there was a beeb program about it." No one's replied because I suspect we're all just too stunned to even know where to start. Apparently her other reason for believing it is because it works on her dogs whereas pharmaceutical drugs kill off older dogs by damaging their liver and kidneys. I...just...what?

I work with two people with PhDs, one in physics, one in chemistry, both believe homeopathy works.

edit, also Google dictionary doesn't accept homeopathy as a word!!

One day of work to go and then I'm off on holiday.
Packed last night: main bag has all my ACW gear; daysack has one change of modern clothing. Getting excited.

Bicester, whilst now the Garden City of North-East Oxon(TM), has also just been demoted from 'town' to 'village'.

Yes, then heading over to an airport hotel this evening (most likely after beer and food with friends). Flight is tomorrow lunchtime, but getting to airports from anywhere in the Shire is a real pain and I'm tired of getting up at stupid-o'clock.

Was tempted to save weight and wear uniform on the plane, but realised that fellow passengers might not appreciate 7 years' worth of accumulated smoke, sweat, and powder smells.

I got a CV in today for an admin role I am advertising for.

Under "Personal Interests" there is a lot of comedy gold but I think the following verbatim quote is the best thing I have ever seen on a CV

Quote:
I also play Piano, up to grade 3 and have considered learning the ukulele

One of the guys that sent in a CV for a job on my team noted that he had 'a great interest in the care of aquatic pets'. Further questioning lead to the fact that he had a solitary goldfish.

It didn't go down too well with the people holding the interview, but I kind of admired the humour and expressive wording. I think both are skills in themselves especially in a job where sometimes you have to manage the conveyance of negative results, and also speak to managers/area managers in a way that undermines them without making them feel undermined.

Saying that I could drive a JCB and used to be a DJ got me in the door for my current job (which was a Junior Web Developer).

I considered learning the ukulele but didn't isn't really what you could call an 'interest'.

He's a dreamer, not a do-er.

Which probably isn't the best thing for a CV.

Fair enough. Although I took it to basically mean "Music is an interest of mine - here's why" ;)

Are you having a bad day?

I've just had this text from my little brother.

EDIT: I have spoilered it as it is a picture with swear words in. Does that need spoilering for potential NSFW?

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!

I did mention that - he said he left the changing room three times, guy was still there when he came back. I asked if it was an old crumbly man (as I think they are the usual ones who like to air themselves at changing rooms), but he said he looked more like 'Brock Lesnar' (I Googles this and it is a scary fake muscle type chap).

The thing I get disconcerted by at our gym (because we have no johnson blow dryers) is the number of people who are clearly on steroids, given the wicked acne, and particularly backne, they have.

And steroids for body building make people look un-human. I don't understand it.
