I actually think that if Blatter pulled out a gun and shot someone in public, he'd still somehow not lose his job, let alone go to prison.

Don't know if it's true or not, but apparently slave-driven Filipino labourers are allegedly dying in their thousands putting up all the Qatar World Cup football stadia, according to online sources? If so, how's that for a "fair play" backdrop?

I truly HATE football and all that it stands for, and quite clearly is. GTFF as far as I'm concerned; it wouldn't bother me if they razed every single football ground to the ground.

People quite rightly get very upset about fox hunting and the like, but last I looked people weren't dying over it.

I love football, and I love my team (COYS!)

But.

I hate FIFA,Sky,the world cup and all inter-Euro football.

It should all be banned.

So Blatter gets re-elected as FIFA president. Who'd have thought it possible? He should enter the Eurovision Song Contest next.

Man famous for bribing FIFA officials gets elected by a vote of FIFA officials.

If anything, this is more evidence against him.

I liked his statement yesterday, which was basically along the lines of "I had no idea this was going on, how could I be expected to keep an eye on all of the people that my organisation touches?"

Coupled with the graphic that was floating around that showed the organisational structure of the top level of FIFA, which was basically Blatter at the top, and then everyone underneath him with either "ARRESTED", "INDICTED" or "GUILTY PLEA" written over their mugshots, I just found it quite hilarious.

It'd be like the Prime Minister saying "I had no idea my entire Cabinet were fleecing taxpayers with expen..."

Oh.

I've had to great ideas today. If someone wants to make it/them then you agree to give me 100% of the profits for ever. Here's my groovy ideas:

1) A Satnav that has a video on the front and just shows the road as you can see it but overlays the map over the real time image.

2) A book/film/TV programme where the protagonist can feel the sadness of every food he consumes. So if he or she feels the sadness of a sheep when he or she eats some lamb.

There you go. Make something and give me money people.

I am feeling lots better thanks since The Rugby so I was sent to Aldi where I have been to politer Sheffield derby games then to Asda and even Coop. This evening I did the dishwasher twice and kegged up Da Beer and even mopped the floor. MrsA has "hurt her back" and apparently this means lying on the sofa and who fun when the Proscetto runs out. The Child also beat the shit out of me before bed as a "fuck you for having a cheeky pint on the way back from Coop when I wanted to shout "goal" a lot.

Someone's already had a better idea and started implementing it: http://www.techradar.com/news/world-of- ... al-1031691

The comic Chew has a similar sort of setup: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chew_%28comics%29

Many, many years ago when watching people trying to put exact amounts of fuel into their cars I had the idea to put £10, £20 etc. buttons on the pumps. I saw a pump that had this the other day. I could have been rich beyond my wildest dreams.

That's a cool idea but, boy, does it look ugly in situ.

http://www.trustedreviews.com/pioneer-n ... hud-review

I thought from your link it was going to replace the visor but it looks like it just attaches underneath it. Bleurgh.

Also I've just noticed that was I w as talking about is, in a fashion, reproduced on the console bit of the sat nav (since it looks like there's still a main display unit that shows the road, map and a load of junk. Well it does in the video on your link).

How could it replace the visor? The visor needs to be opaque so it can actually block the sun from a driver's eyes and the satnav thing needs to be transparent so you can actually see the road through it. I don't think you've thought that through at all.

I'm really not convinced that having the sun shine through a screen you're also trying to display things on is a recipe for anything other than fucking up the eyes of your poor victim.

Saturnalian wrote:

I read it when it first started but it never really clicked with me so I dropped it after a few issues. It's very well thought of in general though so I don't think it's a bad book, just not for me.

Well it ain't like you can put the visor down if you've got it on anyway. :S

Besides, having read about it again, you can alter the tint on the display so I'm right.

I read some of 'Chew' when it was part of a Humble Bundle. Really enjoyed it, but not enough to pay for following issues.

The next big thing in mobile technology perhaps?

Forget touch screen: now no-touch screen!

http://uk.businessinsider.com/google-so ... ogy-2015-5

Frankly, I'm excited, since I'm sick to death of my bloody iPhone. This one is slightly bigger! Now it's wider! This one is plastic! This is metal! This has fuck all storage space but will still cost you the earth! Oh, but you all still get the same iOS with each new iteration, which, is now (and was always since its introduction) bloody ugly.

The last iPhone that I liked was the 4S. Everything since then has been a tedious update. I liked the introduction of the finger print scanner (really, really like this feature) and maybe even Siri (for just taking reminders on the fly mainly), but these additions don't get me excited about a new phone just cause it's a new phone. IN PLASTIC! etc

Something crackers like no-touch screen might get me interested again. Or maybe one where safari isn't so fucking rubbish to use and the top and bottom of the screen can be seen at all times. Or maybe one where I can fast swipe to the bottom of a long thread instead of just the top. Or one where they strip out all the added functionality and go back to the previous iOS; just to fuck with people and see if we miss any of their new guff.

Perhaps you should stop buying iPhones?

Or new phones in general?

Or maybe Apple should pull their finger out and do something innovative rather than rinsing our pockets? It ain't like they're short a few bob.

(I haven't had a new phone since the 5S, which I'm typing this on, and before that the 4S - cause I ain't no chump) (nor am I made of money)

But phones are just mundane devices that do what they need to. The innovation now comes from the stuff that runs on them. At this point it's like demanding that someone create an innovative and exciting new approach to plates, or paper clips.

If enough people feel that each iteration isn't adding enough to make it worthwhile upgrading and are therefore staying with their existing handset then you could make the argument they're leaving money on the table.

What can phone companies do to inovate?

It can only get better and evolve.

My point is that they're making kabillions of dollars, and selling gigatonnes of devices, despite you not liking the new phones (which you bought anyway). If they change their strategy then they're insane.

Only if the new strategy makes them less money. If it would make them more money they'd be insane not to. I'm not sure your point is as clear cut as you think it is. ETA: given that you can't say for sure they've reached 'peak profit'; obviously if there was some way to know they had then changing stuff would be stupid of them.
