Rather than getting socks and aftershave for Christmas you make a list of things you like (the new Randall Munroe book, GTA game, etc).

Make it massively long and then pass it round family members. They cross stuff off and pass it to someone else. That way you get stuff you want, and it's still a surprise as you can be vague-ish (a book about socks - surprise me).

Works better for people who don't know what you like.

Since meeting Mimi I now no longer use the list, because it turns out we know what each other likes.

That sounds awful.

I don't get presents anymore on account of the adorable little moppets that now get all the attention.

I'm ok with this. Presents make me uncomfortable.

Whenever I get a Christmas or birthday card from an aunt, I still shake the envelope in the hope that there's a tenner inside.

The full stop is inside the quotes on the first paragraph, and they're not only objectifying women when one of the models is a man.

Only joking, I got her a personalised number plate for the car. sort of. it was cheaper to change her name to "HN51 CJD", so that's saved a few bob.

I was going to post something about that being appropriate if you were married to a mad cow, but that would be terribly crass, so I won't.

It's a nice day outside. I've just turned on the small portable heater next to my desk because the air-con in our office is set way too cold and we can't change it.

I sat outside with my manager for a 'meeting' and a bit of a gossip and we both. Came in a bit pink.

Was lovely outside. The sunshine makes me feel all happy and lovely.

Probably won't feel this way in another couple of months, mind.
