Only managed a couple of hours but it's tremendous fun so far. The shooting seems better somehow but otherwise it's a lot like FC3 which was exactly what I was given to expect. So if you liked that game you'll probably like this one and if you didn't then you won't and you're just a rubbish idiot anyway.

The reviews have made it sound a bit disappointing in that it's apparently not quite as good as FC3 and the new setting doesn't work as well as Rook Island but it still sounds like a decent game so I'll certainly be picking it up at some point in the future. I played FC3 a lot later than most here and was a bit fatigued with it by the end so I'm happy to play it later on down the line.

Pundies Tips:

Shotguns are really handy for when wildlife gets up close and personal. I like the 87 'Signature' weapon. Short range but maxed out damage.

Because you insta-create syringes from two green leaves, you can actually carry way more healing than the number of syringes in your syringe pouch. If you have max syringes, and two green leaves, when you use one you automatically create one to replace it. I recommend the perk where you get two leaves per plant, then each one you harvest is a syringe-in-waiting.

This game is incredible. It's Far Cry 3.5 and that's absolutely perfect.

I know the graphics are nicer but I think I'd need to play FC3 again to appreciate it because it just seems the same after a bit. I've found that with a lot of games on the PS4, they're better but the effect is to warp my memory of the old games so that they feel the same. It's why I'm not fussed about getting GTAV on the PS4, I know that after ten minutes it would feel exactly as though I was just playing through it on the PS3 again.

I remember why I pirated it last time now! To the usenet-a-tron.

If it was on steam I'd buy it.

I can't even figure out how to access the store on uPlay. :-/
Hmm... I think it might actually be a problem with my install - Open, Update, Crash. Urgh.

[Edit] No, seriously. Is there not a store tab in UPlay?

FC3 appeared on Steam "eventually", so I guess you could wait.

The pirate versions are mostly missing the day-one patch, which fixes tons of important bugs.

The scary thing is they're pretty much like that in real life.

They're notorious for shrugging off 9mm rounds and machetes.

I've been following the Ubisoft games on Steam thing quite closely. I think it is because Ubi want to charge £50, and Valve said "no".

Started playing on the PC yesterday, sat through the intro scenes and when finished started to move about, after a couple of minutes I closed down the game as I had to see to my son as he woke up. I was expecting a save at this point as "Checkpoint" had flashed up

So I go back in a few hours later and had to sit through the intro scenes again, explored a bit more and then once again closed down before any real progress as I was called away yet again.

Not had time to go back to it yet, hopefully I don't have intro number 3 to do, I hate these console ports that decide where you save, the first Far Cry game let you save when you wanted.

Hijinks from yesterday!

Coming out of a story mission, I'd left half a dozen trashed enemy trucks at the entrance to a camp. I jog out to go start the next thing when I notice an enemy convoy truck stuck in the road, trying to do an Austin Powers style eighteen-point-turn past the wrecks. I immediately shoot the driver in the head and take his truck, speeding off to deliver it to the Golden Path.

Halfway there, I get a Karma Event: kill some courier in a car and take some intel he's carrying. Well, I'm in a fucking big truck, so it's easy peasy to smash the guy into a tree. I hop out to loot the body but two random patrol 4x4s turn up and belch henchmen all over the place. I then have a running gun battle with them as I get back to the convoy truck and zoom off (running one over in the process). One of the jeeps was alongside me for most of the trip back to the Golden Path camp, but I managed to settle that with the liberal application of the '87 sawn-off shotgun to the driver's face. Arrive at the camp to jubilation from the rebels.

Yes and yes.

I wanted to record that incident I wrote up, but I forgot. And I had another incident where I nailed four guys in 20 seconds with the bow without alerting them (just shot a patrol in order from last to first) but either the video recording flaked out or I missed a button prompt for "save this video to the hard disk so I can edit it later."

Share button feature is ace, BTW.

You have a PS4, right? I have the "Keys to Kyrat" feature where I can share the game with up to 10 other people, even if they don't buy it, and they can join my game for co-op shenanigans. Happy to do that with your account.

Killing honey badgers made me reject this title.
They are my favourite creature and any unwarranted slaying ritual or otherwise is abhorrent.

Also, it tends to be less 'I need to kill honey badgers for my new bumbag' and more 'right, how am I going to approach this outpost... FUCK! *dakka dakka dakka* FUCK! *heal* get off me you fucking psychopathic... SHIT! *heal while running away* right you little bastard. *switches to shotgun. Boom-kachunk!* Ha! Wait...Shit! *heal* you fucking ... *Boom-kachunk! Boom-kachunk! Boom-kachunk! Boom-kachunk!* it's dead. Might as well skin it.*skins* Wait, what are all those red dots on the radar. Shit! The outpost!'

Remember the friend I fell out with? No? Anyway... He tweeted about this game being shit because you can kill wild animals. He even used the hashtag #fuckfarcry.

Two days later he bought GTAV. The next day, he traded that in for Farcry 4.

Doesn't sound like the actions of a sane man, does it?

Not sure you can call it stealthy if you use C4 to blow folks up! ;)

Loving that people can just upload their vids to the forum with ease at the moment.

The Outpost Master thing which appears in this after you liberate each outpost is genius. Had so much fun trying different things. I nearly cleared one with two arrows. One to destroy the alarm and another to piss off an elephant which then laid waste to everyone except the heavy gunner chap.

Seems it's limited to two hours online play. Doesn't say how many players it supports though: http://far-cry.ubi.com/en-GB/keys-to-kyrat/index.aspx

Worth noting that as far as I am aware only the host player makes progress in the game during co-op mode. The guest player doesn't play as "them", if you follow me, but only as a special character in the other world. Also, it's 2-player only (probably for game balance reasons). Two player stealth outpost takedowns would be ace though. Two player elephant riding takedowns even better.

Then there's this:

Image

One player can grapple the bottom of a gyrocopter being driven by the other player. And then, obviously, ride into battle.

I'd be very up for trying this, although I'm likely to be busy all weekend so it'll be next week now.

Also, be aware the download is 26 GB.

Those gyrocopters, they don't fly very well. Also they behave nothing like gyrocopters, more like small helicopters, if anything. :nerd: >:( :nerd:
