That's what I meant. Both Grim... and Grim… look the same at first glance. But only one of them will get counted, which can be confusing.
Fucking up the counter was the wrong term. More that it can behave logically correctly, but behaviourally unexpectedly...

So getting this back on topic - grabbed and played a few games last night - the 'classic' mode stuff is just as good as it ever was , I spent hours in pacifism but only scored around 9.5 million which is a fraction of my 360 score.

The scoreboard integration with friends list is there as before so you see your best / your closest friends score and gives you targets as you go through each game , and for the new adventure mode it begins and starts each level with the leaderboard.

Actually it works fine as long as everyone does it the same. Note how in the last game the counter was completely correctly counting votes for :hat:

Barely scratched the surface of this, but first impressions are - it's fantastic.

Only Zaphod on the leaderboards so far, there'll hopefully be a few more by the weekend.

I'll be getting it on the 360 so you won't see me I'm afraid.... But this does mean that there's less chance of my scores being beaten!

The wife is out on Friday night so I'm planning on spending the entire evening doing nothing else but play this.

Pacifism is definitely tougher. The collision detection feels less generous, so you can't seem to slip through those really narrow gaps as easily. I also have the impression there are more gates and sooner, but that might be my imagination, as I haven't played GW2 for ages.

Still, managed to beat your 9 million after ten minutes or so...

I got a score of around 7 million in about 10 minutes , then went off and played other stuff and got the 9 million score - then played over an hour and my top was around 5 million :-)

I like the 'quicker restart' button but it needs to be even quicker than that !

Started playing the Steam version last night. Seems brilliant so far! I haven't set any decent scores, but do add me as a friend so I'll have some to aim for. :)

(Steam name is Klatrymadon, I think.)

Bugger. I'll try and squeeze in another go later on - I'm guessing you slaughtered mine, rather than just beating it. All part of the fun...

Nah, it really is all part of the fun. Anyway, Zaphod I can compete with. Dr Zoidberg, on the other hand, has sneakily bought it and aced everything.

Sorry again Mr C. Think I've done even more damage to your scores. On one of the levels I was 74th on the global leaderboard. It's bloody addictive this game. 30 minutes quick okay turned into 2 hours.

Bloody hell, it's the MAME challenge all over again. A bunch of old gits squinting to see the screen, while a young lean, mean cyborg casually beats everyone playing one-handed while eating his dinner with the other. Didn't you say you had too many games to play? :DD

OK, edit my post to read "middle-aged lean, mean cyborg". Definitely a cyborg, though, albeit one with haemorrhoids and a spot of gout now and then.

It's true. Not keen on that or Kings. Basically anything that restricts my ability to shoot.

Not yet. I've only just got a PS4 and want to do Resogun justice first. I'll wait until it's on PS+ in Feb. ;)

I agree with you on King. Pacifism, on the other hand, is totally addictive. I played that every day for a year or so on the 360.

That's Feb 2017 - are you sure you can wait that long? Are you sure? Oh go on, it's quite cheap and excellent. What more do you want?

I've bought this. Played a little. Seems lovely, but what's this about upgrading drones? Do I have to grind levels before I can compete on the hi score tables? Because that's shite.

I just got past the first 'boss' last night and unlocked the first drone - i dont know about grinding to unlock more of it but there seems to be 3 drones and you unlock them by completing the normal 'adventure' mode

I completely missed upgrading them for ages, but once I noticed you can do it really quickly. It's only a couple of thousand geoms per upgrade so by the time you unlock a new drone you should have enough to max it straight away.

Urgh. Fair enough. It worked in Luftrausers I guess.

Although I won't bother for high scores now and just focus on unlocking levels.

Played it via my vita's WiiU mode. Worked incredibly well, but the morons didn't switch R1 and r2 around. So you have to use the touch screens. Still well worth a try if you've a vita though.

Yeah, it's basically Geometry Wars meets Mario Kart now, it seems. To get the best scores you need to be both good and to pick the right ship combo.

My default for the drone is the collector as it helps get the multiplier up quickly, but there's a few levels where you need the extra firepower of the one that attacks in the same direction as you. None of the others have been much use so far.

For the bomb, I just go with the latest to be unlocked.

So i bought..

hadn't bought a 360 game for ages, so had to upgrade the system first... although the xbox recognises my new router, when upgrading it seems to have problem with the security ( i remember having swithced back to wpa1 when i bought the xbox 360 .. old stuff), so it took me quite some itme to get going..

for now it is just fine, adventure mode is quite nice in a away that it gives you a structure, but i quite think it is ugly...

maybe i should have waited until i bought a ps4 and bought it on that one, since it basically is Geometry wars with a structure and now you cna play it on ps4 too...

PC / Mac steam version is 25% off on Amazon.com right now

Works out around £7.20 (its a steamworks game so buying the PC code will also give you the Mac version)

Might have beaten Dr Zoidberg's deadline score last night, twice in a row. I suspect my score will be beat again as there were several errors and I think I died twice.

I'm really struggling with pacifism, it seems far tougher and less forgiving than the xbox version. Will have to give it some more time, maybe with some less wine.

Finally managed to edge past Dr Zoidberg on Evolved and upped my Pacifism score to 39-ish yesterday. Tried to do the same on Waves, but that mode just totally does my head in.

I can see I need to get back on this soon!
I've not played the classic modes much - been concentrating on the campaign levels instead.
