Don't really see the point to be honest. Just give cash if you want to give cash, or stop drinking if you want to stop drinking, or do both. It's not like it is this extreme thing that you are doing to raise money for charity, it's no different to changing your brand of toothpaste for a month... ;)

I find it a bit weird that this has appeared to 'challenge' Dryathlon, Macmillan and Cancer Research somewhat fighting over the same pot of potential sponsorship there, I feel. Also the morons didn't even check that it was Cottage month.

I won't have an alcoholic drink for October.... Or November... Or December for that matter.

More of the money for Macmillan does to helping folks I believe.

Well, they certainly do a lot more palliative care etc, but I don't think you can look at either Cancer Research UK or Macmillan and say one is a better cause than the other. My point was rather that they're running identical campaigns - stop drinking for a month - for similar causes. Surely they'd be better off differentiating?

I was not saying one was better and I agree it deems the same fundraising.

Don't ask MsKov how cancer research buggered up the running track at her club

I would do it, but too many cool things happen in October.

I did "Dry for July" and didn't see the big deal. I think if you find this sort of thing massively hard you probably have an alcohol problem.

(Admittedly I celebrated on the 1st August by drinking a shit ton of Smirnoff Ice...)

Also, several breweries who give a lot of money to these charities are annoyed that they are doing this.

That's why I'm doing it, I drink far to regularly mostly on weekends, having woke up this morning after not drinking last night I feel great and full of energy.

I got up at 6.30am so I reckon my wife will be making me cocktails tonight :DD

Did miss a drink last night, no DT's or anything like that, just felt I should be having one as it was Friday.
