Ah, you got me beat then. I saw it at the end of last year, looked it up, forgot about it, saw it again a little while ago, looked it up again, this time remembered it enough to talk to you about the trailer.

I'm sure we watched the trailer for the first time together (although perhaps not physically together).
Sure, but that was much more recently. It was the night we were at some pub with Andy and Riles and Craster went home at pussy o'clock.

Deadpool always delivers. Even on mother's day.

And at the beginning of April you got to hear what Ryan Reynolds thought of it being a PG-13 (with bonus Slater!)

You wanted a leaked trailer?

Get this in your eye holes.

Hang on, we're leaking "trailers" these days? Fucks sake.

Anyway, I've heard some people are interested in Deadpool so here's a video of the trailer, recorded on a phone, in someone's pocket, behind at least five rows of people, people who can't sit still, are "those" people who whoop and scream at the TV like morons, filmed at a kooky angle AND is so far away that you've got to wonder whether it was really worth watching for 3 minutes.

Here it is: http://www.dorkly.com/post/75251/youre- ... ol-trailer

I can tell you now, having watched the trailer, that I know nothing about Deadpool but I am interested in this now. I just hope this isn't one of those trailers where all the best throwaway lines are spoiled. In fact, there's a few good lines in here. Watch it/don't watch it either way, it's your life. You'll probably have forgotten about the trailer by the time it's released in 2016.

They have done absolutely everything exactly right for the Deadpool movie so far.

If the movie has the same elan and panache it is going to be a classic.

Pretty much :this:. I pray to God they don't ruin it by adding in lots of bullshit about his wife and whatnot because seriously, who gives a fuck? That trailer doesn't actually capture the character as well as all the previous stuff has done but I'm assuming it's been cut with an eye on capturing the interest of the mainstream audience as they've pretty much got us already. Which is fair enough, the thing's still got to make money from the normals.

Post subject:  Re: Deadpool

If it's to capture the attention of people who don't already know about Deadpool they should specifically say about his powers:

is he immortal, or does he have super-healing, or what? That would be the hook to get people in, as well as telling the audience that he breaks the fourth wall.

You think? I think that poster would put a lot of people off. Deadpool isn't exactly a high profile character like Spiderman or Batman. I would have thought the film wouldn't benefit from misleading posters like that.

Deadpool also isn't a film that is likely to attract viewers who haven't heard of it yet. Those who've heard of Deadpool will be highly entertained by the poster, those who haven't probably weren't going to see it anyway.

Which is why I don't think the marketing people in charge of this film are doing a good job. Surely they should be attracting everyone to the film? New and old fans alike?

Anyway, this is only one poster. I'm pretty sure they're getting paid enough to know what they're doing so the wider marketing is probably more appealing.

Not everything has to be bland mass-market lowest-common-denominator stuff. Sometimes it's OK to try and be loved by a few instead of liked by a lot.

I'm not saying fans or people who've read the comics, I'm saying that niche of people that pays attention to pop culture. You'd know about Deadpool by this point, even if you'd never read a single comic.

Also, most of the current Marvel output is aimed at the mass market. Anti-hero stuff is obviously going to be more tricky to aim. Deadpool and Suicide Squad are unlikely to make as much at the box office as Avengers, but they're really important for keeping the savvy fanbase on board.

Yes, that's patently ludicrous. Although some internet rando calling a woman a whore (even in 'character') for trying to do something for her son isn't particularly funny imo.
