Mrs T and I signed up to it last week and got the first box through today, I shall report back.
If you like the look of it and want to give it a go, if you use my code "ZJAV7L" you get £20 off the first box and I get £12 off my next box :)

2nd week of this now, still very impressed. Last week was lovely, this week not quite so lovely so far, but mainly as one of the dishes was prawn based, and i'm not a fan.
I make a right mess of the kitchen when i'm cooking though, good job we got a new dishwasher!

8 weeks in now! Still going, still very happy with it :) Had a couple of duff meals that were a bit bland, and some of the instructions could be better written, but other than that it has been brilliant.

My current headphones (Skullcandy Lowriders, fact fans!) are giving out. Should I get another set, go back to the old faithful (Sennheiser PX100s) or is there anything good in the 'compact NOT-in-ear headphones' category that I'm missing out on?

I was there yesterday and it was brilliant! Was the big Mortal Kombat MAME cab (pretty much the first one you see as you went in the main hall) working?

It wasn't yesterday. Neither was Killer Instinct 2 or the VR machines.

Still... It was an excellent day out.

KI2 was up, as was the Oculus and the other VR one. Can't remember whether MK was on or not. There were a few that were off it nothing too upsetting.

It seems I'm still shite at Defender. Never could get the hang of it.

They had pretty much every 8 bit home computer you could imagine, from the ZX81 through to the PC Engine.

About the only one I don't recall seeing was an Enterprise 128.

Decided to try going cold turkey on sinister Facebook for a bit. Deleted the app on my phone and Ipod, and will see if I can go a week or so without accessing it.

I've started to realise that I was probably too addicted to it, feeling a need to continually check it and getting frustrated if I couldn't due to a lack of wi-fi or whatever. For the past few years I've had the Ipod by bed at night, and if ever I woke up at 3AM I'd reach for it and start browsing it. Likewise, I've been prone to stay up late reading people's postings or getting into chats, and I'm wondering if I shouldn't be spending more time building relationships in the real world.

I'm also starting to think that it exacerbated the initial tensions during my recent troubles, as we would chat almost daily and when we weren't on at the same time we would post comments on each other's pages etc, and to go from that stage of 'always on' to 'completely cut off' made everything feel 100 times worse than perhaps things were. Blocking me just made the situation worse (I almost did that myself, so I can't really criticise him for that), although I never looked him up and only found out one or two upsetting things about him completely by accident.

I do enjoy hearing about my friends and learning what they're up to (in a completely innocent, non-creepy, way), and I don't want people to think I am cutting them off. So, er, happy birthday if you've one coming up.

That sounds like a really positive step, Kern.

The other thing you could do if you find yourself going back to it is to Unfollow/mute people you're actually not that bothered about.

That way if you keep checking it constantly, and find there's no updates it may help break the habit.

Thanks. Expect more 3AM nonsense on this site instead :)

Main concern is the messaging system. In the past, it used to automatically email me a message if I wasn't online, but in recent years it has not been as reliable. Sometimes I get these notifications, other times I don't. But then, almost everyone has my email address and mobile number, so if it is important they'd contact me anyway.

You know your office has gone overboard with tech when the water tap has had its software api license revoked, thereby cutting off the drinking water supply.

I'm not even joking.

HSE Guidelines -

Quote:
Drinking water
An adequate supply of high-quality drinking water, with an upward drinking jet or
suitable cups, should be provided. Water should only be provided in refillable
enclosed containers where it cannot be obtained directly from a mains supply. The
containers should be refilled at least daily (unless they are chilled water dispensers
where the containers are returned to the supplier for refilling). Bottled water/water
dispensing systems may still be provided as a secondary source of drinking water.
Drinking water does not have to be marked unless there is a significant risk of
people drinking non-drinking water.

Sorry I misread it was water. When our office lost water we were sent home as the toilets would not work

Aye, G+ is excellent for photos, especially for sharing them amongst select groups. Far easier than on Sinister Facebook.

I have decided that I can use the Messenger app if someone contacts me that way during my sabbatical.

Sinister Facebook? Well, after reading this in the Huffington I deleted the new chat app, and then the main app from my iPod. It's browser access or nowt for me from now on. And then there was this in Wired, which shouldn't have surprised me really.

That article is older than Jesus. There was actually a fairly balanced counterpoint in the independent over the weekend. Link.

That said, trying to find that article was a pain in the tits. I'm sure it is the same on any newspaper, but given that 90% of news articles now are made up of 'users on twitter/Facebook/bebosaid' trying to find an article about Facebook means you have to wade through every article written on anything in the past week

Good grief. I didn't look at the date on the Huff article as I only saw it for the first time last week, so thought it was much more recent than that. As it happens, I'd already deleted the app from my iPad because I don't like apps that don't have the facility to log out. I don't like being logged in all the time, unless it's my choice. So, that ruled out the chat app for me. Then, the most recent update to the main app also won't let me log out, so that had to go too. Perhaps I'm overly security conscious (or just paranoid) but that's how I feel about these things.
