It's an age thing. If I have to explain, you would need to watch a lot of a 70s sitcom

I know what Citizen Smith is if that's what you're talking about, I just didn't see why you'd decided myp's name was a reference to that?

Strong rumours about Eddie Jordan being the third presenter, which would (in my opinion) be a fucking disaster.

It'll be a real shame if, out of all the people in the world of motorsport, they take that fucking idiot.

I don't believe there is any good way to be a clown.

I like how that line up positively fizzes with a total lack of any on screen chemistry whatsoever. I'm actually quite looking forward to it just for how awkward and stilted it's all going to be. That said Chris Evans does seem to know how to make popular TV and radio so who knows.

Oh, I dunno. Chris Harris is a very good driver and a great presenter. Check out his YouTube channel Chris Harris on cars.
Sabine we know can drive and seems to have the requisite charisma to hold her own in this group.
Matt LeBlanc is a serious petrol head, but he's a bit of an unknown quantity.
Chris Evans is quite annoying as a TV presenter IMO but he's undoubtedly passionate about cars.
Eddie Jordan is just annoying.
And Rory Reid is an unknown quantity, what with him being the token member of the public who made it through the open casting.

The thing is, with six presenters it's not like anybody is going to get a lot of air time and we have no idea how they intend to put the show together.

Why have they put so many people in, I wonder?

Also, Sabine Schmitz is an incredible driver around the 'Ring, obviously, but she's also pretty incredible around any other racetrack, which makes me wonder why her and the Stig are on the same TV show.

I'm not sure you can call Rory Reid a "token member of the public" - he's worked on Sky and Radio 5 (not doing a lot, admittedly).

I think it's to have clear blue sky between the two iterations, at the least.

Chris Harris is pretty handy as well, but I take your point. You'd have to think they could both worry the Stig's lap times

I'd never heard of him, but interesting that he isn't strictly speaking a member of the public.

Oh yeah, I didn't even think about that. That makes it even odder.[/quote]

Yeah, because they would definitely edit and report these lap times accurately.

This was my thought too - in some of the older episodes, after Clarkson did the car test at the start of the show, and then the "Star in a reasonably priced car" it seemed like Hammond and May barely got any time on the screen. It'll be interesting to see how they try to make sure everyone gets something to do within the hour.

They might not all be in every episode I guess, maybe a couple of them will be the studio types and the rest will contribute their films as and when.

I strongly suspect Evans and LeBlanc will hog most of the screen time.

No Clarkson and the other two simpering twats means the liklihood I'll watch it has increased x100000 fold.

As a PI solicitor I'd love to know how that settlement was reached. Apparently he'd sued for a swollen lip and racial discrimination. The discrimination aspect might be a few thousand but the lip would be worth a couple hundred quid assuming a recovery within a week or two. Presumably he's signed a confidentiality agreement of some sort where he can only disclose the amount of settlement and been compensated to keep his gob shut.

Might be due to the abuse the poor chap had from idiot Clarkson fans.

Given that he was blamed quite loudly and vociferously (albeit by idiot members of the public) for the demise of one of the BBCs flagship programs, that must have hurt his employment prospects quite badly. If you add loss of earnings into the mix, the figure doesn't seem too bad.

Says here that he was off work for 6 months on full pay before he left and got another job elsewhere. Might have been a residual earning loss/of chance then.
