I'm pretty sure North Korea has a similar approach to international diplomacy.

I never thought I would see the day when the president of a country I have always loved and respected* insults an elected mayor when his city has just suffered a horrific attack.

And we're giving this ghastly man a state visit.

*the country, for avoidance of doubt.

But then I bet you never thought that the American people would elect such a complete balm pot to the presidency either.

If he's a pot of anything, it's most definitely not balm.

Dianne Abbott is taking an indefinite break as she is useless/unwell - delete as applicable.

Probably for the best. TBH watching some of her recent performances I have wondered if there's more going on than her simply not being very good.

Recent goings on made me think of this. And MrsA asked me the same question the other day, too. And i remembered i never totally git back to you.

Yes. Many. Mainly Tory ones, some Labour , most Liberal democrats. The targets of my annoyance are generally those that have been on R4 that morning. They should put Thought for the day on at 0825. That'd cool my jets.

No. R4 is my main source of news that isn't cycling at present.

Quote:
Donald Trump has told Theresa May in a phone call he does not want to go ahead with a state visit to Britain until the British public supports him coming.

The US president said he did not want to come if there were large-scale protests and his remarks in effect put the visit on hold for some time.

The call was made in recent weeks, according to a Downing Street adviser who was in the room. The statement surprised May, according to those present.

We'd love him to come. Thousands of people will go to London just to greet him. He'll get the biggest crowds, the best crowds. In these troubled times, we need someone who can unify our nation. A visit from Mr Trump would do just that.

The interesting thing about the denials are how non-committal they are:

BBC wrote:
A Downing Street spokesman said: "We aren't going to comment on speculation about the contents of private phone conversations.

"The Queen extended an invitation to President Trump to visit the UK and there is no change to those plans."

Sounds to me like something's been thrown into the long grass.

Describing it as a 'sharp drop' seems like something of an exercise in understatement....

'Fallen off the edge of a fucking cliff' would be better, I think.

Having had enough of experts, the British people are conducting a series of real world experiments to discover basic truths themselves.

Rather than pull human rights, might be better to push building regulations.

Or better checks.

I won't mention who it was who told me this because it was a private conversation, but their next-door neighbour had a loft conversion, and to get in you had to squeeze through a fire door in a corridor so narrow it couldn't even open properly.

It was purely there to keep the regs man happy, and was going to be removed as soon as the checks were done.

Tories voted against it. Funnily enough most of those were landlords themselves.

If you're talking about Fitness for Habitation, that wouldn't have mattered here*.
