I'd question whether it's him being lazy or just being scrupulous with his records, it really wouldn't surprise me to learn that he also records whenever he leaves his office early too. Because despite being a very terrible leader of the opposition I always understood that he had a good record as a hard-working MP and didn't get embroiled in all the expenses mess etc.

But really without knowing the actual habits of most politicians there's no way to know if this is a story at all or just a complete distortion.

Because always being "on the job" is definitely a good thing....

I think in the case at hand it's a stupid thing to do, even just for the way it looks. The wider concept of trying to strike a work/life balance I have a lot of time for.

It simply wouldn't be an issue if he was doing a great job. You'd say "Fair enough, if this is what helps you do this great job then you can do it". When you're a blithering incompetent like Corbyn it does seem like taking the piss somewhat.

Perhaps this is where the confusion arises: I think few would argue that Corbyn's performance is inversely proportional to the weekly aggregate time he spends trying to do the job.
Thus, the more time off in lieu he takes, the better his Party's fortunes.

So yeah, if I were a Labour voter, I'd be imploring Andrew Marr to lock him in the Green Room and throw away the key.

No-one's suggesting he's breaking any laws, or even doing anything that isn't within his rights.
But you know, there's life beyond the letter of the law: there's what's morally right given the circumstances (e.g. £170k salary to be Leader of HM Opposition, upon which giving political interviews on TV/media is absolutely fundamental to perform that role etc.), as well as precedent (ever heard of anyone else who's done this job doing this?) and even just good old, much maligned common sense.

I'm stunned that people struggle with this. But then, I am a Tory after all....

I'm quietly ashamed that the government ended a programme to let unaccompanied refugee children into the country, and snuck it out in a written statement.

Court is where appeals happen. He was in court. Court is where the attorneys work so that's super convenient for them.
