"Another Way to Die" is also a million times better if you sing along in your head replacing the words with "Another Slice of Pie".

Sorry to buck the trend here guys, but Roger Moore is my least favourite Bond. Well, maybe after Lazenby.

That said, On Her Majesty's Secret Service is probably my favouritest Bond movie.

Actually, Bond music usually matches the film name, right? So why does Quantum of Solace have a theme tune called 'Another Way to Die'? Sure, it'd be an arsehole of a job working 'Quantum of Solace' into a song, but why didn't they just call the film Another Way to Die? Especially considering the only Ian Fleming thing about it is the title, and the story was completely made up for the film.

They did it with Casino Royale as well. The official feem choon for it - by Chris Cornell no less - was called not "Casino Royale", but "You Know My Name".

Jesus, fuck no! That one is fucking terrible

Quantum of Solace had a budget of $230 mill. They made the whole of the Lord Of The Rings for $280 mill, 12+ hours and all those effects shots; so how did they spend so much on Bond?

They trashed 12 Astons or something like that, I read. That probably wasn't cheap, even with a big product placement discount (I can't imagine Aston just gave them those cars.... did they?).

My mum saw this the other day and didn't like it. I might go to see it on Orange Wednesday in a few weeks when it's nice and quiet.

As I said when the title was first announced, it has to be sung to the tune of 'The Power of Love' by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

THE QUANTUM OF SOLACE (The power of love)

A KICK IN THE BOLLOCKS (a force from above)

*because nothing else rhymes with 'solace' apart from bollocks. Apart from perhaps trollops, which could be worked into a later chorus regarding Vespa Lindt.

And Emma Peel's in it, so that pretty much seals it.

Also I second (or third or whatever) the positive comments about GoldenEye.

Yes. I am saying Octopussy is better than Die Another Day. I am saying that Tomorrow Never Dies is better as well (and I can barely watch that one). The filmmakers were desperatley trying to shoehorn tributes to all the other Bond movies in their that they forgot to 'horn in the plot.

Invisible Cars! Bond has never been gritty realism, but Invisible Cars?!?

They were trying to set Berry up for her own 'Jinx' movies, weren't they? Because she was still flavour of the month at the time.

Stupid bitch. If not for her we could have had Sophie Ellis Bumsexx0r with her baps out as the Bond girl.

Poor old Brosnan was totally fucking wasted as James Bond, wasn't he? The only really good one he was in was Goldeneye, although I don't think The World Is Not Enough was too bad. Tomorrow Never Dies was like a two-hour ad break and the less said about Die Another Day the better.

Totally. I would go so far as to say Brosnan's best performace as Bond is in The Thomas Crown Affair, in fact.

I'd rather have that than Moore in a circus train. They were both arse, but at least with Die Another Day there was some action. Octopussy was bland beyond belief! BLAND!

I may be remembering Octopussy wrong (the Moore's do tend to merge) but was not there a large amount of attractive female in that one? And an amusing circus clown/bomb disfusing ending. It appeals to my inner nine year old. The modern bonds struggle with a lack of proper baddies. Tomorrow Never dies? Media Mogul looking for ratings. The World is Not Enough? Willow french bird looking for oil. Die Another Day? Formerly Korean billionaire looking for... something. At least the Daniel Craig movies are moving back towards the 'massive crime syndicate' model (even if the main baddie in the new one is a wimpy french bloke with a god complex)

My good god, what is wrong with you two? Brosnan was the cat's night time attire in all of the Bond movies he was in. He was let down mightily in Die Another Day by a shit story, script and director, but that wasn't his fault.

He *was* brilliant in The Thomas Crown Affair, though.

I quite liked Evelyn, too. :)

I'm not ragging on Brosnan, he was a pretty good Bond. I'm ragging on script and direction and production for the Bond films he was in, which never got above "well, alright, I suppose" in my opinion (Goldeneye), and went down to "very very shit indeed" (Die Another Day).

Whereas The Thomas Crown Affair had some very Bondish elements to his character and was a better film than any of the Bonds he was in, see.

I also liked Brosnan's Bond. I heard that he was in the frame to do it ahead of Dalton, but was committed to Remington Steele at the time. I wonder what The Living Daylights (a good Bons by anyone's standards I reckon) would've been like with a mid-30's Brosnan in the role.

Casino Royale was the first Bond film I saw (of the two I have seen, the second being the one I saw last night) and I think it is a good place to start as

a) Danial Craig is great
b) It's the beginning of teh Bond 'story'
c)He's a bit sexy.

Yeah, he's not my type at all, but he is sooo sexy. Like Steve McQueen.

In fact...

This is true. Dalton was also offered the role in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, but turned it down (it went to Lazenby instead).

Another great Bond trivia: the first Bond was Bob Holness, yes, Blockbusters Bob Holness. He played Bond in a radio play and was (I've read) in the running to be Bond in Dr No.

Similarly to the Remington Steele thing, also, Tom Selleck was cast in Indiana Jones until Magnum PI was commissioned. Harrison Ford was a last-minute recast that Lucas was not keen on -- as he felt it was too similar to Han Solo.

"In 1954, CBS paid Ian Fleming for the rights to adapt Casino Royale into a one hour television adventure as part of their Climax! series. However, Barry Nelson played a CIA agent named Jimmy Bond, Clarence Lieter was a British agent played by Michael Pate and Peter Lorre was Le Chiffre."

Yeah, he was before Holness but it wasn't an official adaptation. The Holness radio play was.

Edit -- oh, it was licenced after all. I stand corrected.

Wasn't the director of Die Another Day arrested last year for some really bizarre reason in weird circumstances. searches
Hmmm, and his role call of films is pretty shit, so props for making one of the worst Bond movies in recent memory.
M wouldn't be impressed

She's never impressed anyway. Much like fellow aged ice queen Anne Robinson, ever since the change and her magic button shrivelling, she's got a face and personality like she has to eat her own droppings for breakfast.
