Just got destroyed by a Druid in Arena, again.

Same as ever; they get a couple of minions out early on, then bring in a massive taunter each turn and there's nothing I can do. I need to change how I'm playing, somehow. I just die any time I come up against a deck with several taunts.

0/2 with this Shaman. Again, opponent gets a 3/2 out first turn with the coin, I can't kill it on my next turn, he brings out taunts every turn for the rest of the game. Without a 'fuck up all of the opponents' spell, which I don't have in the deck, what the hell are you supposed to do? I just don't know how I could play it differently.

Accept my friend request and you can play someone with an equally gimped set to see how that goes

Maria wanted to use the computer, so I did chores and am now going to bed.

The above were in Arena, though it seems a common theme of my losses, so I don't know if it's down to my card choice, play style or just bad luck. Quite possibly a bit of each.

I thought you were trying the gimped set in practice matches - my common losses right now are either :

Running out of cards in my hand so I'm just relying on getting a good card to use

Having a full hand of buff type cards and no minions to play them on

As for the '3/2' at the start I often do worse than that - I'm mainly playing with a Druid just now and one of their basic cards is a zero point card that adds 2 mana so if you have that and go second you can use the coin + that and drop a yeti on the board on round one - if your very lucky you draw a 'mark of the wild' card (2 points) and play that on the yeti for your second round giving him taunt and +2 / +2 so the start of round 3 when they only have 3 mana they are facing a 6/7 card with taunt and they generally dont have enough mana to kill it (e.g. mage really needs to get to 4 mana to use the polymorph spell to turn it into a sheep) , hunters just use their zero point 'give a minion 1 health card' and priests can use their 'death word' thing on it but a lot of others struggle with that at the start

Rogue is the other best bet, otherwise you might have to go elf!

I've used elf cards (as mentioned in the original post) to make mine work , I've also tried priest and Rouge but cant make 30 with either so its Mage only for me until i can craft more cards

My deck is ready! In the interests of fairness I haven't crafted myself any of the girly legendaries, as that seems a bit off when folks like zaphod are scratching around to even put a deck together.

I'll give it a couple of test runs in casual and see how badly I get smashed to pieces :)

3:3 Arena run.

One of the losses I have no complaints about but the other two....

#1 Infuriating game against a hunter where I basically did everything right but the tick-tock of his 2 damage hero power swung it for him.

#2 Irritating game against a priest, no complaints about the priest (for a change :D), just my insanely horrible card draw from what was a very balanced and sensible deck. Not just bad draw but also where the numbers on the cards don't divide nicely into the mana you've got, which against a pretty aggressive deck is always bad news.

Grrrr.

Over 330 gold left in the tank though so enough for another two runs.

I was really hoping I could get Zaphod, as we appear to be at a similar level.

Nevertheless! You're going down, Chopley!

It's entirely possible you'll beat me, my deck (a) Doesn't have any fancy cards in it and (b) I'm too caught up with Arena and Constructed to have even given it a test run so I have no idea how it plays!

Just realised that I'm on holiday for a week from tomorrow.

Could maybe play first round tonight in about two hours?

Laptop! iPad! Wireless hotspots!

If I'm online in battle.net in a couple of hours feel free to challenge me up but TBH I might well be in bed by then because (a) I'm an old man and (b) My daughter is waking up at the crack of dawn so we're literally talking like 5am, so I'm tending to get tired early :D

Doh!

Just lost from a winning position. Froze their Baron Geddon (fuck me, he's an amazing legendary), to guarantee the win, then accidentally silenced him to make sure my minions were alive... which removed the freeze, so he killed me.

Oops.

Getting some mileage out of Pagle after all, he works pretty well in my own druid deck.

The trick is not to play him too early as he becomes the focus of extreme enemy aggression, rather drop him down midgame when hopefully you've got your opponent busy with other things.

The other thing I like about my druid deck is I've got it working well with the three good legendaries I have, Cairne and Raggy just don't synergise very well with either the Trump F2P mage or shaman decks.

It does feel a bit cheeky when you get a win screen like this though....

nice :)

I am trying to work out a deck where I can get value out of my legendaries.

So far I have -

Image

Very meh, but haven't really had a good go at Shaman yet so might be missing something.

Image

Am enjoying my Jaraxxus deck, but am finding that if I get to the point where I can play him I have basicly won the round anyway, so he is pretty pointless at the moment, will need tweeking.

Image

Insane Stupid card that generally is useless or hurts your plays, never use him.

Image

Very nice card that I shoehorn into quite a few decks, has some very nice synergy with the various classes.

Image

My first proper Legendary, have used her alot more than I should have really, can be very good in a mid/late game pally deck. Just focus on total board controluntil you can pull her out for a 15 point hit followed but annihilation with you massive board lead. Not so good against rush decks

Image

My latest Legendary, haven't put her into any decks yet (she may have her first showing in the Ladies only Beex tourney, although I do feel like I would be cheating abit vs ppl who haven't been lucky enough to get the nice drops yet)

Al'Akir is reckoned to be about the weakest class legendary, I didn't feel inclined to craft him when I was going nuts with the Trump F2P shaman deck, if you've already got him it'd be worth trying to slot him in though. The basic numbers on him are just so awful though, and all the other abilities are a bit of a mish-mash. Jack of all trades master of none is my problem with him.

Not really played much warlock but have had Jaraxxus played against me a few times. And yes, if he's played against me, I've probably lost anyway. He's very dramatic though.

Gelbin is hilarious but yeah you'd never play him. Had an opponent play him against me and his invention proceeded to turn one of his own minions into a chicken for the next three turns until I won :D

Sylvanas is nice, good deathrattle that you really have to work around as it can be so dangerous.

Not much to say about Alex, although I have had a mofo rescue himself from certain death with her once.

Onyxia can be very disruptive, especially when combined with anything that buffs minions. I had a druid in what I honestly though was a total death lock last week, he brings out Onyxia to fill his entire side with whelps, I didn't have a board clear, 2 x savage roar next turn - OUCH.

The deck I am thinking of for the Ladies only ( might loose the legendaries, feeling a little guilty about having them in the list)

I've only seen Jaraxxus once against me, but he turned a loss into a win for the guy, as I would have finished him off next turn.

He is very fun to play, getting a 6/6 Infernal each turn for 2 mana is just insane, especially if you still have a sunfury protector or defender of Argus left, makes a very big wall very quickly.

Also am kinda waiting for this to happen to me -

Point of order: Is Flamestrike valid? I contend that the elf-like figure on it is distinctly male-looking.

Elves are OK if you don't have enough women, but if you do I think it is going against the spirit of the event a bit :)

Okay - question about this and the interpretation of it

I took it to mean that if i dont have enough cards with females then i can pick a card with an elf on it (not a female elf - any elf).

So in this way would you consider flamestrike an allowed card

Its got an elf on the card although admittedly a male looking one

FYI I drew the card in both games - I think I was going to win the first without it (but it did clear the board) , and the 2nd game was much closer and it may well have made a bigger difference there

I don't mind either way. Sticking with Priest for this match-up was not a great move - lots more synergy with the ladies on a mage.

I don't think that's even an elf, the teeth and general appearance say to me that it's a troll.

I guess it helps if you've played WoW :D
