Not illegally employed people on a large scale over a period of years.

Did they knowingly do that?

So you think they employed people illegally in full knowledge. That would make a difference, for sure, but I don't know why they'd bother doing that. I assume they'd still pay at least minimum wage, and it doesn't sound like the types of jobs that would be impossible to fill legally?

I don't think people are angry at them for the fact that the Home Office enacted the law. I think they're angry that Byron basically did the HO's job for them and rounded people up for arrest.

Almost certainly. At the very least, they would have had lax internal controls over identification assessment, of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" variety (or maybe outsourced to someone cheap and shoddy).

As someone in the business of the application of internal controls, a competent process really shouldn't fail to that degree, ever, especially as that's literally HR's main responsibility in a company.

After that, yeah, they have to shop them, but by all accounts they did it in a really shitty manner.

I don't think most people blame Byron for UK immigration law, tbf.

Sheesh. And there was me thinking Byron was a poet, not a purveyor of hipster burgers.
Shows what I know, huh.

Me? I'm a double sausage and egg McMuffin(tm) man. With two hash browns and a black coffee, ta.

Hell yes. Though OJ because I can't stand their coffee.

Byron aren't even close to hipster in the current burger market.

Put one of the hashbrowns inside the McMuffin.

Then order a third hashbrown, because they're the best things on that breakfast menu.

"How many hash browns do you have ready right now?"
"Er... Five.. seven... Thirteen!"
"Yes."
"I'm sorry?"
"Yes."

Just give me all the hash browns you have. Wait, wait. I'm worried what you just heard was, "Give me a lot of hash browns." What I said was, "Give me all the hash browns you have". Do you understand?

On the way back from yours after Download, Jacket cained it to the McDonalds on the A1, and we got there bang on 10:30.

"Two Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin meals please"
"We're finishing breakfast service. Want what we've got left?"
"Sure"

Paid for 2 DS&E, got 3 DS&E and seven hash browns. Nice.

To be fair, I'm only cribbing from whichever smart person told KFC to put hashbrowns in the Zinger Tower burgers.

KFC hashbrowns are better too. Also, the sausage in a BK breakfast roll is better, but doesn't come with McDs cheese and their breakfast potato offering is pisspoor. Someone should run a service mashing up all of these features.

There's something in the seasoning of that American-style sausage patty thing that McDonalds use that I don't entirely care for. Can't put my finger on it.

BK used to do breakfast rolls with a swirly Cumberland-style sausage that were very nice. I don't know if they still do.

Now... There's a thing. I remember that, but it was only in some BKs. I'm sure all the ones at mainline large train stations had them, but never saw them in high street branches. I used to get one for my brothers to share and if have all the mini hash browns.

The BK sandwiches were disgusting because of that slab of what I can only assume was someone who's never seen or eaten scrambled egg thinks is what scrambled egg should be like.

Ashcroft focus group of post-Brexit political landscape:
http://lordashcroftpolls.com/2016/07/po ... ers-react/

Quote:
As for the Labour Party, “where do you start? I’ve never seen a party like it. It’s a farce.” Jeremy Corbyn “is the greatest thing for the Tory party that ever happened. He’s the gift that keeps on giving. Totally unelectable”. Labour voters thought him “unprofessional” and “too far to the left”, and the party “a right mess”, “a catastrophe”, and “a basket case”. The party was no longer representing its voters: “The membership is students, extremists, socialists, the far left;” “I hope May doesn’t call an election. We would be entirely wiped out.” Labour’s disintegration had left “a massive chasm at the centre of politics. If there was a new party, I’d give them a go.” Even Tories were worried: “It’s not good news that the party is so weak. I voted Conservative, but it means there is no debate about their plans.”

Nobody had an opinion about Corbyn’s leadership challenger (“Oliver something?”), though one said they had seen him on Newsnight: “He was good, but any of us would look good on Newsnight now that Paxman’s gone.” Even if he won and turned out to be competent, the party was such a mess that “it will take him some time to get it right.”

Ashcroft focus group of post-Brexit political landscape:

Yeah, I can't really see many people disagreeing with this analysis, it is pretty much bang on.

This bit did make me LOL though:

Quote:
If our political leaders were characters in Game Of Thrones, which characters would they be? Theresa May: “Catelyn Stark, or Margaery Tyrell – plays all sides, you don’t really know what she’s up to.” Nicola Sturgeon: “Cersei Lannister. Knows what she wants and will do anything to get it.” Jeremy Corbyn: “The little one. Tyrion Lannister.” What about Owen Smith? “An extra.”

Harsh but fair, huh. :D

Anyone who thinks it's an insult to call Jeremy Corbyn Tyrion Lannister is someone who doesn't watch Game of Thrones :)
