Congrats though. :)

I know I've said this on FB - but both of my boys are coming home for Christmas! :D

That's fantastic! What a great bit of news, you must be mega excited for Christmas now!

I too have some good news to share...

New job get!
Moving to a new department involved in redesigns, dealing with suppliers for new products and existing product quality issues and offering technical support and root cause problem solving to the production teams, with more of a free hand to develop and implement long term solutions. I'm so excited to start it, it's the job I've wanted since I started my apprenticeship but I thought it would take me much longer to get there. That's not the best bit though, the best bit is it's on the weekday shift! Weekends off! Argh! :DD I might even have started it before my 30th birthday in January so I will have weekends off to do all the birthday activities I wanted to do but couldn't because of holiday requirements!
:DD :DD :DD :DD :DD :DD :DD :DD

So....cottage in October, yeah? :smug:

I finally ended up having my first meeting with the guy who owns the company yesterday, which went very well. "Yes, Mr International Billionaire, that's a good point, I've already sorted it out for you, yes, I'm very competent". So that's out of the way. Because my entire interaction with him up until now has literally been just walking into him.

Due to someone leaving it also looks like I may be getting a promotion. I've been asked to suggest my own job role, and will discuss it with my boss in my appraisal next week. This could be good....

Promotion get! 12% payrise (not quite as much as I was hoping for but hey, better than a smack in the face with a kipper), a new lackey and a job title I'm going to haggle over next week.

Concentrating on the positives of today, I've got a bottle of wine on my desk, a Baileys cupcake made by my boss's boss's wife and a bottle of Champagne that the director bought me.

Today, I win at work. Still stressed, but with the chance of being very drunk.

My brother has been sectioned.
While at first glance this might seem like it needs to be in the Nay thread, I'm treating it as a positive as it means my mum has finally realised he needs proper help and things could get better rather than worse.

Indeed. It's definitely where he needed to be, but trying to tell my mum that wasn't particularly well received.
20 years of heavy cannabis use probably didn't help matters here.....

Sorry to hear about your brother but I'm sure (as you are) he's in the right place, can only get better from here on.

I'm sure your mum will come round to this way of thinking too.

Just come out of a job interview for a position on the same team as I'm currently on, with the same job title that I currently have, but for a bigger salary.

Seemed positive.

Plan is 3 nights in New York. Then fly to Atlanta. Rent a RV then drive to the big easy then down to Orlando. Then flying home.
