Just sat twiddling my thumbs for fifteen minutes whilst 'Mapinfo' generates a heatmap from a huge dataset, only to discover that the beautiful creation on my screen is showing the differences in the unique identifying codes for each area. Ooops.

I actually struggle to find acceptable (ie black) trainers nowadays.

I should clarify I like running shoe style, or lightweight styles, and have gargantuan feet.

13 to 14, depending on brand.Nikes I tend to go 14, because I tend to find they're a bit narrower than other brands.

The brightly coloured ones look alright on 'normal' feet, but look like your wearing fucking distress bouys when you're a goddamned podiatrical tyrannosaur.

Shoe shopping: 'wow, those would be perfect! Oh, those go to size 12. Fuck. Oh well those would do just fine! Size 10 is the max? FFS. Show me ones that will fit me... Erm, well. They're the least worst. I'll take them! HOW MUCH!?

Much better than it used to be, of course, when choice often came down to 'these or none at all'.

I'm glad I don't do any sport that requires specialist footwear.

Weird, no? The 9's are Sketchers trainers and the 12's are boots with a high ankle.

Post subject:  Re: Bits and Bobs 47

I went to the Arboretum Cafe today, for breakfast.

The options are:
Traditional Breakfast: £4.95
Sausage or Bacon Bloomer £2.99
Toast 85p per slice (add jam 50p, add egg £1)

There is a promotion just started, which I have taken a picture of, below.

I saw the leaflet yesterday, but they'd all been removed today, so I asked if this was still available (I found the leaflet I took a picture of as I was leaving today). Yes, they said. I asked them what the offer was as I didn't remember. Now, just read that leaflet, and what do you make of it?

What the two women on shift told me was that I could have a £1 coffee with my breakfast, which would save me 80p as coffee is usually £1.80. Ok, fair enough. BUT, I couldn't have toast. Ok, that's fine, I didn't want just toast, I was going to have a full breakfast.

No, she said... They'd serve me breakfast but remove toast, because it says excludes toast. I suggested that surely that meant that you couldn't get the £1 coffee option if you were 'just' having toast for breakfast. No, they insisted that it meant that toast would be removed from any breakfast I was ordering if I wanted s £1 coffee. I could, however, pay 85p to add toast, which would then cost 5p more than just having a normal breakfast with toast and a normal full price coffee.

It's a bit funny, but I like the girl, so I smile and say I will have a sausage bloomer instead as then I don't t need to worry about toast. She says she thinks it applies to bread as well as toast. Now I just blink dumbly for a while. I can have a sausage bloomer, without the... Bloomer? So, just a plate with a couple of sausages on it.

To stop the pain I just order a breakfast with toast, with no drink. And I don't want mushrooms. She asks if I'd like some free extra toast instead of mushrooms. I say yes, just to make it stop.

What you want are trainers with little led lights in that work off s RFid chip, so you get within 10 feet of them they light up.

I was queueing for a baked potato there once (which I had to return as it was cold and raw in the middle...) when a woman brought her sandwich back to the counter. It was a ham, cheese and salad sandwich with a whole grain mustard served on the side. But they hadn't given her the mustard, and inside it was just cheese and salad, no ham. They stated simply that they never had any ham or mustard. They didn't see anything weird or wrong with just having given the woman a cheese sandwich instead.

I think it's right. You don't have to have any fence at all, but they still shouldn't let them onto your property.

Unreasonable, but there you are.

It is a problem I suppose but also the weights of a normal sized cat, fox and next door's Yorkshire Terrier are annoyingly close so getting one but not the two others is a real task when setting the ebay bought gin trap.

That is unreasonable. If you don't own the boundary, you can't replace a fucked up fance panel, so have to come up with some additional means of dog-proofing? That's bizarre.

It's the same deal with cats, if you want to be seriously unreasonable.
