Doesn't it just mean that it's not something which is great business to go shouting about. If someone reads about stock shortages somewhere then they will be less likely to shop there even if stocks have since been replenished.

Yeah, that's a fair alternative reading; I don't suppose there's a way to know for sure what that quote means.

Yeah, that's a fair alternative reading; I don't suppose there's a way to know for sure what that quote means.

An alternative, alternative reasoning would be:

"We hoped that the iPhone would launch earlier than Q3 than this, and we really need to shift a lot of units to hit our sales targets, so lets emphasise strongly stock issues, so that people jump on board and upgrade in the fear that they'll be waiting until christmas if they don't do it today"

I don't know - I was guessing.

Funny thinking of your desperately swiping at your screen though.

Back in Safari iOS 7 is a single finger swipe from the left edge of the screen to the right. Forward is the same, but from the right edge. Some cases with very deep front lips can make this tricky to do.

Swiping left to archive emails rather than right is somewhat counterintuitive.

I crashed my car in the mountains and had to walk to a motorway to borrow a new car. On the way I saw a jaguar(?) standing on a rock. It disappear (akin to the monster in Another World) and I could later hear it roaring.

It was a tense, and memorable, walk.

iOS7 has broken a web app I've written for a client of ours.

Worst part about it is that it worked fine through all the betas, so this mirrors Cras' experience of iOS6.

Second worst part is that the bit that's broken is a button that submits a login form. There's nothing special about it, it's literally just a HTML <input type="submit"> button, no JavaScript attached to it or anything.

When the button is pressed in Safari, it's all fine. But when you add it to the home screen as a web app, it doesn't work any more.

PAIN. IN. THE. ARSE.

Yup. I don't fucking get it either, but it's giving me a right fucking headache today.

I thought to myself "Maybe I put some funky JavaScript on that button that is confusing it" but no, literally just an <input> submit button. That's all it is. Arsed if I can work out why it works in Safari but doesn't work in the web app mode - I've now got to buy an iPad to test the fucking thing on over the weekend.

Having only recently spent any serious time with iOS to test an app at work I was really surprised by the same thing; I kept fucking up a login because I couldn't tell by looking at the keyboard whether I was typing in upper case or not. You do adjust, but coming to it clean it seemed like a really bizarre design decision when having it be WYSIWYG seems so obvious and is the norm in every other on screen keyboard I've ever seen.

This all reminds me that I was supposed to give our iOS app a quick go yesterday on an iPad that had been upgraded to the actual live version of iOS7 and I totally forgot. Oops, I hope it's not broken.

The solid arrow is garbage and I can't fathom what the reason for this design decision is.

Oh I'm sure it has, but the testing I was doing last week is really the first time I've spent sustained time typing stuff in iOS hence me only noticing then.

Depends how strapped for cash you are. The 4S is still a decent handset and with iOS7 is almost like a new phone anyway.
