I'm fairly sure that recreating Python in this fashion is a Godwin-like sign that we have to close Beex forever. I hope you're happy.

Where does that sketch actually originate from anyway? The Python version is the only one I've ever seen, but I do know it's not their's originally.

Some old TV show with Marty Feldman and, umm, Tim Brooke-Taylor I think. To the Wiki-oh-tron!

Quote:
The sketch was originally written and performed for the 1967 British television comedy series At Last the 1948 Show by the show's four writer-performers: Tim Brooke-Taylor, John Cleese, Graham Chapman and Marty Feldman.[1][2] The original performance of the sketch by the four creators is one of the surviving sketches from the programme and can be seen on the At Last the 1948 Show DVD.
...
The "Four Yorkshiremen" sketch has been performed by Monty Python during their live shows, Live at Drury Lane (1974, no video recording available) and Live at the Hollywood Bowl (1982), each performance varying slightly in its content
...
As a result of the numerous Python performances and the comparative obscurity of At Last The 1948 Show, the "Four Yorkshiremen" sketch is widely and incorrectly credited to Monty Python's Flying Circus.

I know. I was waiting for some pseudo smartshortarse to say that. QI SIREN

While it was not *originally* a Python sketch and was from the At Last the 1948 Show or whatever it was called, it was co-opted by them and later used in a Python only line up, I thought.

Yes it was, as discussed. But seeing as how it was used more or less unaltered, and only 50% of the original writers were later in the Pythons, I stand by my "not a Python sketch" comment.

By that token, anything performed by, say, Mitchell and Webb on that Mitchell and Webb Sound is not "a Mitchell and Webb sketch", being, as it is, at least partly written by other people. Which is clearly silly.

So technically I was correct, it being a sketch performed by Monty Python, and for which they are well known.

We mentioned this at the start of this one and Grim... suggested that the Doc should graph it.

Yay! I passed my exam. Last minute studying in work this morning was helpful and I had enough time at the end to go back through the ones I hadn't been sure of.

Now, to enjoy FOUR WHOLE DAYS at home with my girlfriend with no work or college or living away from home to get in the way :)

oh yeah, I should probably study for my exam on Wednesday as well. *starts fretting*

I'm kicking off at 0930 tomorrow morning, with a finish in time for the pubs to be open.
