My point is that they're making kabillions of dollars, and selling gigatonnes of devices, despite you not liking the new phones (which you bought anyway). If they change their strategy then they're insane.

Mind you, if Google does a no-touch screen I'll get that cause it sounds ace. Or a Windows phone cause I fancy it next time. I'm bored of iPhones.

With respect, the fact that you personally can't see anything that could be done isn't the same as there being nothing to be done. Maybe you couldn't have imagined them putting a fingerprint sensor on the front? Or an NFC chip to handle payments? Or Siri?

But phones have evolved in past 6 years. Still the same basic device, even google phones have not changed that much.

Well, it comes down to what you consider 'enough change'. You could argue that nothing has changed in even longer than that given that 'touch screen smart phone with internet capabilities' have been around for much longer than 6 years. I think though most people would disagree if you said that no significant changes have been made between this:

And that's slightly besides the point anyway. Really what I'm saying is that just because you or I can't see where the room to innovate is doesn't mean it doesn't exist. If everyone thought like that we'd still be driving Model Ts and <insert other ludicrous comparisons>.

If enough people feel that each iteration isn't adding enough to make it worthwhile upgrading and are therefore staying with their existing handset then you could make the argument they're leaving money on the table.

Is it any good without crushing leg injuries? I've not been to Alton Towers for about 5 years so there's a few new rides I need to try out.

Jem and I went to Alton Towers a month or two ago, and I refused to go on the Smiler for two reasons:

1) I was feeling a little off after a dodgy breakfast at the restaurant near the main entrance
2) The ride's troubled history, with an unusually large number of incidents during its operational lifespan - including one where a wheel fell off and hit some people in the face.

Jem laughed at me.

I feel vindicated.

Today's incident raises some serious questions about that ride, and indeed rollercoasters in general. I always thought that the computers controlling these rides were failsafed up the wazoo and that it was impossible, barring failure of multiple redundant systems, for two carriages to collide - let alone at speed.
