Question:

Ever since I was a kid, my favourite bit of a Peperami is the bit of plastic the meat is wrapped in. That transparent sheath thing.

It has roughly 1000% times more flavour than the actual meat.

I don't swallow it but I do chew and suck all the flavour out.

I've never heard of anyone else doing this.

Am I the only one?

Now you mention it, I used to do that too.

I've stopped eating pepperami after finding out that it contains more fat than butter does.

What? Wikipedia says Pepperami Original is 44% fat; butter is nearly twice that.

I didn't do that but I did something weirder. When I was a kid if I got a plaster on my finger and it got wet when washing my hands I would suck the water out of it because it tasted nice. I didn't swallow it though.

Ah. I imagine they reduced it by a lot, then. Back in the day, it was almost entirely fat. Lovely, delicious fat...

Never let a cat get near the inner pepperami wrapper, or you'll not get it back off them without considerable injury.

I love this quote from Wiki on the Pepperami page
Quote:
Unilever recently decided to drop its ad agency of 16 years, Lowe, and have turned to the crowdsourcing platform IdeaBounty to find creative ideas for its next Peperami TV campaign. Unilever has worked with Lowe on the snack food brand since 1993, but have decided to crowdsource their brief and take “The Animal” to the public, rather than a small team of creatives. [2]

It means nothing to me :)

I do think they all choose for themselves what they want to be labelled as, actually. For example, one lad (the one who thought spinach was rocket and failed to cook an apple) was listed as "Graduate". That's "Unemployed", surely?

That bit was hilarious.

I'm not enjoying MasterChef so much this time around. I think I prefer the Professionals version, as the quality of food on that frequently astounds me. Far too many rookie mistakes in this one, reminding me of the joke that is The Restaurant.

Six weeks. Iron Chef UK. I can't wait.

Ironically, I'll be in the US when it airs. FFS.

It usually takes a while to get going. The Professional one has it's fair share of incompetant idiots as well though (although the one who didn't know how to make mayonaisse should have been shot).

The best thing about professional MC is Michel Roux Jnr, is a world where most judging in these compos is just sneering he is always looking for something positive in the stuff that's put in front of him...and you can see just how much his praise means to the young people on the show.

I noticed that on Masterchef as well. I think the BBC probably do give them the title and in the case of graduates they must just give them that title if they have recently left uni and are 'seeking employment'. Was that sixties girl not a graduate as well? And the fine arts grad who got put out.

Colleague badly sprained her ankle stepping into a pothole in Tesco's car park yesterday night and so can barely walk, can't drive, etc.

Team leader phones me this morning (waking me up) and asks if it's possible for me to go and pick her up and bring her to work as otherwise it'll just be me in this afternoon. Well, no fucking way am I doing it all myself, so yes, I go (not that far) and collect her. I get to hear the lovely gruesome tale of ankles going CRUNCH during the drive into work, then.

Hah, absolutely. The guy trying to spin sugar into a spiral was my highlight of the idiots, choosing to repeatedly mash and stab the <insert tool name here> into the sugar. Monica's face was priceless.

He's absolutely wonderful. I'm not a great fan of Gregg, but John really does my head in. He looks like he stores food in his cheeks, looks like his face is constantly on fire, and occasionally turns up wearing a hoodie.

Masterchef Australia, on the other hand, appears to be a lesson that taking a straightforward premise of a cookery competition, and stretching it over 17 years, making it a matter of attrition, rather than skill, doesn't necessarily make for great TV.

If you do get to choose your job title, (although I'm guessing you don't as I can't believe how many people therefore choose 'Single Mum'), I should like to be 'Fucking Wanker'.

It's also a lesson in how to recut a 5 minute programme into an hour's TV.

Reading about technical issues of the Coleco ADAM computer has made me laugh heartily:

Quote:
-The Adam generates a surge of electromagnetic energy on startup, which can erase the contents of any removable media left in or near the drive. Making this problem worse, some of the Coleco manuals instructed the user to put the tape in the drive before turning the computer on; presumably these were printed before the issue was known.

-Initial shipments to customers included a high rate of defective tape drives, some say up to 50%. Ejecting a tape while it was moving would usually destroy the drive as there was no eject lock-out mechanism and the tape (based on a standard Compact Cassette) moved at an extremely high speed.

-Since Coleco made the unusual decision of using the printer to supply power to the entire Adam system, if the printer's electronics failed or the printer was missing, none of the system worked.

You want Saint's Row 2 for your GTA style lulz if Vice City is your type of sandbox. More fun per square inch then the rest of them put together. Don't expect perfect graphics or story, do expect to cock about doing an infinite amount of sillies. GTA IV 'moves the goalposts' somewhat from the last gen GTAs... SR2 gives you the same goalposts only you've got millions of them :)

They just spent all the money they earned on blackjack and hookers and didnt bother designing the Adam (when i saw the adverts i so wanted one)

Does anyone here have Spotify Premium? I'm thinking of getting it, since I use it at work but our internet connection goes through a proxy in France and I've used up the amount of time I'm allowed to use the free service from "abroad". Plus, it'll let me use it on my iPhone.

What I want to know is, can I cancel the monthly subscription at any point, or am I locked in for 12 months or so? Also, is the offline mode of the iPhone version any good?

Well, this is better than the bill they rejected, I think. For one, it targets website hosts, rather than individual users, so is rather less intrusive. For two, it requires rather more rigour before any action can be taken, with court orders and whatnot.

Is Gaywood unbanned ???

http://kotaku.com/5486473/dont-ask-dont ... x-360-live

Quote:
A change to the Xbox Live code of conduct this morning now allows gamers to express their sexual orientation in Xbox Live profiles or Gamertags.

The new policy states:

"You may use the following terms to express your relationship orientation in your profile or Gamertag: Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgender, Straight.

Other terms regarding relationship orientation are not allowed. In addition you may not use these terms or any other terms regarding relationship orientation to insult, harass, or any other pejorative use against other users."

Last April, Microsoft officials met with the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to discuss the way Microsoft was handling the banning of players for using terms to describe sexual orientation.

This morning the head of Xbox Live policy and enforcement wrote on Twitter that he was "proud to announce" the worldwide changes made live today with a "Special thanks to GLAAD and Microsoft's LGBT community for guidance on the terms."

Anyone using those words in their gamertags and intending to play online is asking for trouble though.

Actually, it says you can only use those terms to indicate your sexuality. So RichardGaywood would still be banned, because he's not gay. Allegedly.

Actually, it says you can only use those terms to indicate your sexuality. So RichardGaywood would still be banned, because he's not gay. Allegedly.

So they will come round and do sexuality tests to make sure what you put on there was correct would they ?

OK, this is awesome. If you ignore the painfully bad writing in the briefings.

MrsP has an obviously female Gamertag (MrsParry for those who wish to 'add' her) and has only even met very polite and nice people online.

She only plays Peggle though.
