Maaaan. I've booked a week off in October but we haven't found a holiday yet. I'm all up for Cuba, but apparently that's silly for a week.

Either way, wherever we go, I'll be checking Tripadvisor for a trampoline in the sea reco.

Got back from Ireland last night and drove the 230-odd miles home listening to the Last Night of the Proms. I'm very glad I did, as it had a far better selection of music than in recent years, including, appropriately enough, a superb rendition of 'Danny Boy'. Hard to really appreciate Vaughan Williams' 'The Lark Ascending' when you're speeding down the motorway, but from what I heard over the engine the playing was spot on.

And as the last strains of the standard finale played out, I felt sad that that's summer almost over then.

Was good. Watched every last night since 2005 and they're always bittersweet, being a combination of end of summer but also 2 months til bonfire night. Never feels the same without the sea shantys though.

If it's the weekend of the 26 October then there's no possible chance of me coming. I've saved up my last bits of annual leave for a week away overseas that week. That's not a conversation I could even start with Mrs K - "Do you mind if I sack you lot off and prevent you having a holiday so I can drink booze with some loonies off the internet?"

She also bought me a little purple tray that you put on a worktop and then put a salt and pepper shaker on.

Just what I always wanted.

Oh, and a mechanical kitchen timer - because my phone just isn't good enough :P

:D

My next door neighbours bought me a trackday voucher though, 6 laps of Curborough in either a BMW M3 or a Nissan GT-R, with the possibility of upgrading to get some laps in an Ariel Atom too.

I'm torn. The Atom is a must, but both the GT-R and the M3 will be far too competent for a short, tight circuit like Curborough. The M3 probably has more potential for slidey-slidey, but then I've already got it's bigger brother, so the GT-R would be more of a change.

(should this be in the 1st world problems thread?)

And I just bought myself a new PC. No idea whether it's any good, don't follow PC specs much these days, but it's a 3.2GHz Intel Core i5, with 12GB of RAM, 2TB HDD, with an AMD XFX HD 7870 2GB graphics card, which should be a massive upgrade over my 6-year old jobber.

That PC sounds rubbish.. Give it to me and I'll dispose of it for you.

Also... I've just been looking on Google Maps and my new job is 1.9 miles away from home. I could walk that?

I won't... but I could!

Where'd you buy from? I'm getting ready to be in the market for a new PC for Elite, y'see.

Bought it from eBuyer - Zoostorm PC, with no OS installed (I have a (legit, incredibly!) copy of Windows 8 I can stick on it) with the graphics card separate, and a 750W PSU too.

Probably would have been cheaper to buy all the bits separately, but fuck all that - I can't be arsed building shit these days.

Same here. It's like bingo if the numbers all work together properly. Hmm. eBuyer have a free postage thing on too.

2 miles is about a half hour walk (at my pace) possibly 45 minutes if you walk slower. Or it's a nice short cycle, and depending on what the traffic is like, may even be quicker than driving.
