I had the idea of putting a turn-off and onable rotating, one line 'news' block at the top of the site. It could contain news like "one day left on the photo competition" or "Xbox 360 Obscure Night at Monday 10pm" or whatever. Thoughts? |

I'm all for it, handy if you're unsure what the pertinent news of the day is. |

Dudley wrote: Or "Comical games 'still a massive twat'" We could have a CG anger alert. Like the American terror alerts. A small icon of different colours to indicate the prevailing level of anger. Oh and naturally the ticker should inform everyone what todays bad smell is. |

I think it could be handy, especially if, like the signatures/avatars people could choose whether or not it is visible to them - is that a possibility, Grim??? (hehe, see what I did there? I suggest that to be the new forum standard, and use Grim!!! when we are angry or surprised with the big chap ) Monkey agrees |

LaceSensor wrote: Dudley, dont anger him or you'll be the next lynchee. Yeah Dudley, I'll tell everyone that you're clearly mafia and I'll be strangely believed yet again, only to find out you're the town rentboy. Filthy, but innocent. I like the idea of an anger alert level, the trouble is the stress of maintaining it would probably piss me off. |

Just set it to "Mafia game update: Angry mob lynches innocent townie" and just leave it to run, it'll always be up to date. |

That would be ace. Remember the "news headline" thing in Sim City? It could be like that. Except with less Godzilla attacks. |

I like the idea, so long as it's not too intrusive. We definitely don't need it displaying at the top of every page. Just the General Discussion page or something? |

Instead of at the top of the page, what about using a tight FOR loop Javascript invocation that fiddles with status.write() so it ends up in the browser status bar? Also, there's not enough <BLINK> tag, can we fix that too? I'll get my coat. |

I support this idea. Bonus points for making it go "bipbipbipbipbipbip" while typing out letter by letter, a la Teleprinter. On ever page. With Des Lynham reading them out. |

This is probably too much to code, but it would be cool if you could click a little icon to delete a news item from the ticker once you'd seen it, or if you weren't interested, for example. |

I preferred it faster, but I'm well aware that you won't please everyone with it. I don't think many people rest on the front page long enough to see more than the first two items maximum. |

I recall having to install a mod to my php 2.* forum to get php code to execute on the forum pages at all. I assume php3 has kept that up? The PTS forum eventually had a random rotating pimp pulled from the db |
