In't iplayer great? I especially like finding obscurities on the BBC Four thingy. Anyway, I don't watch normal telly aside from putting on DVD's, so I tend to get my TV show fixes through the computer. I am completely useless at tracking what's on though.

Anyway, I've just been watching a BBC Four old 60's documentary film about a train being stuck up on the tops near Barnard Castle far up in the Dales. It's a cracking instance of what made the old documentary's so good. Completely devoid of any criticism or penetration naturally, but a wonderful visual poem instead. Plus some ace shots, like when the locomotive snow plough hits the drift and flings tons of snow up in the air a good two dozen feet. It's the sort of thing you watch curled up under a blanket with some whiskey or tea, thankful that you're indoors and not out. It's also fascinating to see just how bad the snows were in the UK. And the Beeb and the trains and people getting pifflingly panicky when 2 to 4 cms falls, well how about four feet motherfuckers?

So yes, watch this, it's pretty good. And only ten minutes long.
