Man alive,

I think time has actually come to a standstill in teh office today. Through bad luck, bad judgement and just....bad... Chloe and I are the only two people in out of a team of 11. You can imagine how complex teh handvers have been - except we haven't had a handover froma single person. Nobody has put their out of office on, either. I can only assume thatthere is no work to do. If there is then we certainly have no knowledge of it...

Talking of quality handovers; some folk in my team were essentially made redundant a couple of months back but, crucially, they're been at their desks almost the entire time since then. One of the guys in question was, amongst other things, in charge of the build and deployment process for the entire client side of our system. Today is the first official integrated system build into our system test environment since the redundancies. Not only is no one even attempting to co-ordinate the client side build but, on raising this to the team, it turns out none of them really know either how to fucking do it or what the list of impacted components actually is. :belm: This team is a fucking shambles.

Took child to beach to introduce her to the sea. Beach was red flagged and covered in foam. Cafe was shut so MrsA couldn't have a hedgehog for breakfast. Shopping to do, then I think I will have a beer or summat.

Welcome to every programming job I've had. No one even seems to care, far less try to do something about it.

I am currently seriously considering a complete change of career.

There was a young lawyer called Rex, whose parts were too small to have sex.
When charged with exposure, his plea on disclosure
was de minimis non curat lex.

Thank you very much.

What makes this stand out from similar tomfoolery is that every one of those bottom burps would seem to a recording of genuine flatulance, not some kid just blowing raspberries.

My weekend was full of middle class self injury, my younger self would despair at this list.

Saturday night I made fudge, and pulled a muscle in my shoulder when I was beating it with a wooden spoon. Should have used the Kenwood, but the bowl was in the dishwasher from earlier salted caramel cupcake endeavours.
Then I changed the sheets and the duvet had a loose cotton thread which I grabbed to snap and pull off. Turned out to be a nylon thread and rather than snapping, it cut up my finger.
Then on Sunday morning when I was picking up a knife from the knife block, so I could cut my now cold fudge, I knocked a metal thermos from the side and it landed right on my big toe. That was a surprising amount of pain, it still hurts now.

Rock and roll people, rock and roll.

The NATO summit probably explains the cars being escorted by police motorbike outriders down the M5, doesn't it?

Most likely. How does it work? Do you pay the bridge toll for each rider, or is there a group discount?

I hope NervousPete is getting some great photos of world leaders to go with his Doctor Who pics from a while back.

All the RC people round there are moaning because they have declared a no fly zone with a 20 mile radius including RC stuff. So even if you were to fly a small helicopter in your back garden then Obama could have your whole street blown up by a drone and there's nothing you can do about it.

The train line I use was closed every weekend in august and the service was severly resticted on mondays, all so that they could fix the line at Watford Junction.
Very inconvenient, but done for the greater good.

This is the tweet from 10 minutes ago...

Half a dozen low flying CV-22 Ospreys thundered overhead this afternoon (which I completely ignored my interviewee in order to watch. Turned out he was an aircraft nerd too so much discussion was had afterwards) followed by a bunch of Blackhawks. Has something happened at the UK's Black Mesa facility (probably hidden in Cheddar Gorge)?

My regular train, on which i've always got a seat in previous weeks, has now become standing room only, if you can actually get in the door.
Same length as before, same time. The only thing that could be causing it is that it is the first week of september and everyone is back at work. Bloody annoying though.

My choice is to either get up 45 minutes earlier, to catch a train that gets me into the office 30 minutes earlier, or get up 20 minutes later, to catch a train that gets me in 10 minutes later.
I think I know which choice is most sensible.

Yes, but they also let me leave early if I come in late ;)

I've been enjoying the fact that I've moved to somewhere that's just 10 minutes walk from a tube station, for the first time ever. Really good journey into work, Northern Line->Jubilee Line, done.

Everyone was back at work today, and it was a 20 minute wait to even get onto a northern line train, so that's that buggered :)
