A friend sold me a 2100 point card for a fiver recently.

This makes the PSN prices an outrage.

I am outraged.

Tesco is hardly "Your friend", that's who I bought my points from, as did virtually everyone here during the 6-12months they were selling them for £12.97 for 2100.

Comparing discounted loss leading cards to full price makes your otherwise legitamete concern (which I agree with) come over all curmedgeonly and ridiculous.

I agree with you - but your method of arguing it just weakens the point massively.

"Discounted loss leading"?

Or "Perfectly standard selling price from online store".

It wasn't this price for a week you know. The point is, for a very, very long time, and for most of the points bexers will have on their box, GTI Club is twice the normal price for arcade ports and most new games on the other machine.

"My method of Arguing?", what that pesky "Back up myself with facts while you be a sarcastic ass equating the countries largest retailer with your mate" thing? Yes, that must be annoying.

Sony's protectionist approach to their online store means £9.99 is what you'll pay. MS' means that most people will have paid that for a 1600 point game, if there was more than one. The fact that Tesco's margin may have been slightly lower is entirely irrelevant unless you're one of those tiresome people who still claims xbox live is £60 a year and not, say, the £27 everyone with an IQ they can't count on their fingers actually pays.

Sony have finally launched pre-pay points cards in the US. I imagine, if they ever turn up here, they'll be subject to the same modest discounting as Live cards.

We hope, although the fact they have a money number on the front might stop that. You'll certainly see them offered with the odd preorder though.

Is that how much those 12 month card things cost on the interweb?

£25 from http://www.gamesbite.com/xbox-live-and- ... -12-c.asp; ignore the crummy website, we've all bought stuff from him with no problems. Also does 4200 points for £30.

Live costs £40, not £60. I don't feel like that much of an arse, then.

It's £60 if you pay it monthly I think, maybe that's what Dudley means.

Indeed, by default it's £5 a month. And of course getting it any cheaper would be a "loss leader" or something and can't possibly be used as a comparison.... :)

What there aren't PSN cards in the UK!?! What the fuck are sony thinking? I assumed there was. That negates my argument then.

I still think that normally a third party discounting a product doesn't mean you can compare that price to an RRP of a competing product. They've released GTi at just under the 1200 point MS price point. Thats exactly comparable to microsofts offerings (and indeed far too much for a straight port of a 12 year old game). But yeah, if there are no ways to get cheaper PSN points that worsens the deal a lot more.

Indeed, if there were cheaper ways to get PSN I'd count it.

Since you can't I see absolutely no problem with using effective street prices for both , making GT Club a 1313 point game at best and a 1611 point at worst.

I think I'll have to take a loan out on 14 November. Nuts and Bolts looks great fun and I can't see why its not getting more forum space (bloodly fallout 3... yawn)

And, hey, Gaywood, what about Manhunt 2 out on 31 October! Re-Edit!

+VAT, shurely?

For what it's worth, I bought some points from http://www.gamepointsnow.com last month (last-minute purchase for a Rock Band party and I wanted to use a debit card) -- 2100 for £17.95 (or 4200 for £33.95) and the code was emailed within a minute of paying via Google Checkout.

2100 points are £2 cheaper from Tesco.

In fact £17.95 is actually more expensive than just buying them off the dashboard.

not sure what I think, seems like its viva pinata holding hands thing where it wont let me play until its told me everything.
gameplay has been stop starty but i think it may just be general demo try and cram loads in thing. Ill wait till either its proper cheap or lovefilm give me a lend of it to give it a proper play though.

All the Banjo games have been a bit handholdy

The Tomb Raider demo is up as well. It's good if you like Tomb Raider.

I done review of Banjo:

http://www.snappygamer.com/2008/11/13/b ... -xbox-360/

Thought it was pretty average really. Bloody disappointed about the lack of platforming :(
