That Black song is great but I went for Tom Vek as it was new to me and tickled my ears pleasantly.

The song in the pub style wasn't too bad but JAMC have it for me.

Us - Not really sure what to make of this, it's quite tuneful but it's not working for me overall. Not bad, but I'd rather listen to Tori Amos or Kate Bush.

Wonderful Life - Classic track, but not sure I go for it these days so much.

You Are Invited - Hmmm, no. I listened to it all the way to the end and it didn't get any better.

Bathtime - Vic Reeves singing in the club style. Really quite good, but needed Bob doing a silly dance.

You Trip Me Up - JAMC can do no wrong, too 'college' for me now though I think. And this isn't one of their best either.

Aroused - Ahhh I like this. Vote achieved I think.

The vote goes to Aroused.

Regina Spektor is lovely and tis a lovely song.

Black - funny one. My heart sinks whenever I hear it but I'll listen to it and fail to find a reason to dislike it. But I do. Perhaps associations with chocolate ads in the early nineties.

Tindersticks - excellent. As already noted very much in the Vic Reeves club singer style. Incidentally, did anyone see Shooting Stars on Monday? Was a return to form.

Jesus and Mary Chain - still sounds amazing. Still :attitude:

I love Regina Spektor, though have been lazy about getting her back catalogue since getting the album with 'On The Radio' on it, and as such am unfamiliar with this. Love the addition of the string quartet to her usual style, and this is a timely reminder to pick up 'Soviet Kitsch'.

Black
Racist! *ahem* I've always really liked this song. It just has a great unhurried nature.

The Dismemberment Plan
I do like the style of this, and I like the jarring entry into the second half of the song, but I just don't like the tune of it so much. I reckon I'd like more of their stuff though, so will have a look see.

Tindersticks
I really like the style of this song. It has a very movie-score-ish feel to it, and a good, dramatic melody. In places I like his voice, but at times I just want it to be a little clearer. It reminds me at times of the better stuff by Interpol, who presumably count these guys as an influence. Overall, very good. Tough little group, this.

JAMC
This is decent enough. It sounds very much of its time, but I think I've heard songs from them I prefer to this one. Not bad at all, but it doesn't stand out enough to take the group for me.

Tom Vek
I thought his first album had a couple of stunning tracks on, but was patchy a a whole. Didn't know he had a second one out. This is definitely from the 'very good' end of his spectrum. I love the rhythm he puts into his songs, and his slightly drawly voice. Very well produced track.

Bloody hell this is hard.
I'm giving it to Tom Vek.

In a Eurovision style I would have gone for Tom Vek - Regina Spektor - Tindersticks.

Regina Specktor - Surprisingly great.

Black - Liked this back then, still like it now. The singer's pretty good.

The Dismemberment Plan - I quite like this.

Tindersticks - Reminds me a little of Bjork's Human Behaviour. Not a bad song.

The Jesus and Mary Chain - Doesn't do anything for me, really.

Tom Vek - I'd never heard of Mr Vek before, and really like this song. I will have to search out more of his work.

I voted for Mr Vek.
