THE BIG SONG WARS FINAL VOTE-OFF: ZARDOZ vs SHEEPEH

So, almost four months gone, judgement passed on hundreds of songs, twenty-seven players knocked out of the competition, 5,048 votes cast, and seventeen cans of Red Bull consumed (by me, the mornings after calculating the scores til 1am). Now here we are. The grand final of The Song Wars. And what a strong final line up it is, with Zardoz versus Sheepeh battling it out. Two very strong tracks to choose from, namely:

KISS - God Gave Rock And Roll To You

"A great ending to a great movie. Inspired many great things. You're all great. I love you. (Cheque's in the post.)"

- Versus -

The Stooges - I Wanna Be Your Dog

"Raw, Grimey, Sexy & Influential... that's enough about me. Covered by many but never bettered, this song is pure awesome, a simple tune covered in sleaze, executed in a way that kills hippies. What more do you want?"

This is difficult. Voting for Bill and Ted is one thing but I really wouldn't like that song if it wasn't for the film. I don't really care for the stooges output but I can very much appreciate their influence on many acts I do love so it's tempting to vote for that. Can't make up my mind.

Well, obviously there's a reason...

As funny a reason as there is to choose KISS... it's mostly not a good song, and people like it due to the movie, not the song.

So I go for The Stooges.

I played it for my kids (the KISS track) and they loved it, they've not seen either film yet.

Owen thought that GGRARTY was worth an 8/10 and Crazy crazy nights was worth a 7. Strawberry Fields by the Beatles was given a 6 (Sorry Chinny I've not taught him the way of the bananananana yet nana)

Nothing offensive meant, but are children really mean to be good judges of the worth of a song?

Play most kids whatever is aimed at their demographic vs your favourite song and you'll lose bigtime. My step-nephews prefer Bob the Builder to Jeff Buckley, and???

I generally despise Kiss but I enjoyed that track for it being at the end of Bill + Ted 2 and feeling really great. Really it goes against everything I believe in as I hate Rock music generally speaking. Synthesisers FTW!

Sadly the Stooges track just didn't really interest me.

Tsk. Can more people vote for The Stooges, please. Otherwise, I'll be tempted to indefinitely extend the voting deadline until the song I like wins.

(Coincidentally, I'm not sure what'll happen if it's a draw come 6pm on Wednesday. I would say "the next vote either way wins", but I'm buggered if I'm sitting by my PC clicking 'refresh' until someone votes. Maybe 24 hours of extra time would be the only way to go.)
