LEAGUES!

The last of the normally themed weeks , Mimi won group A, again, to rub the collective faces of everyone else in the song-picking dirt with her Beatles track, and open up a frankly piss-taking eleven point lead at the top of the group. Nirejhenge's new found addiction to collecting points continued with his choice of Orbital's wonderful "The Box" taking second. Taking third place, the player most people would probably call "The People's Champion" of Group A's choice of How Soon Is Now? by Tatu (much better than the original, so there) saw Mark X cement his place in the knockout stage. Yay.

In Group B, Mr Chris took full advantage of Craster and Zardoz forgetting to pick tracks, and took five points by selecting Elwood and That Other One. That leaves him in spitting distance of the last eight, with no-one definitely through to the quarterfinals with one round to go. imtypingonakeyboard's pick of That Fall Song From That Car Advert netted him three points, and with it likely qualification. Scarysheep3k took a special prize for picking the best overall song of the week apart from Tatu, with his pick of Apples In Stereo. Sadly for him, that prize is merely "a sense of slight satisfaction", so he'll have to make do with that point for the third most popular pick.

Group C saw everyone who isn't Craig pick up at least a point, which seems a bit selfish of Rodafowa, Spinglo Sponglo, The Rev Owen and Zen-Chan. "Young Folks" was robbed in my opinion, but it was a very strong selection. Rodafowa cements a place in the knockout stages, with Malc, Craig and The Rev scrapping for second.

Just about everyone in Group D forgot to pick a song, meaning Status Quo (Status flippin' Quo!) and Black Lace (BLACK LACE!!) took the majority of the points for WullieOoster and Sheepeh respectively. Bluecup and Sheepeh are now confirmed as participants in the big song-off stage.

VOTES!

There are the votes.

THE NEXT ROUND

No more nominations to go now, and apologies for not sending out "HURRY UP AND PICK" PMs to non-pickers today as I didn't even start checking five days of PMs until 11.40pm tonight. To be fair, if you haven't got the hang of it after nine weeks... well, yeah.

So, for the knockout stage - with whoever gets there, a slight addition to the rules. Just having threads with two song titles and a bit of Flash will look a bit dull. So, the participants will be asked to write a little bit about why they've picked each song (in a manner which still masks their identity, obv). And the draw for the knockout stage will be made when all the names are confirmed.
