I think I hate it. I've just given it a go since buying it at xmas time, and the amount of swirly colours from jet engines and fucking abysmal controls has put me right off already. Not to mention the character models during the cutscenes.

... treadway would have to be twice as long as a normal runway No it wouldn't. Well maybe not twice, but it will need to be longer, after all if the engines were not on, the plane would be being pushed back. (or the engines would have to work harder wither way it's not as practical as just having ...

... conveyer and move forwards anyway, thus creating air flow. Still disagree with this :) The wheels have no effect on the drive of the plane - the engines work directly on the body of the plane. It's not like a car, where the wheels are what causes the movement. For example, you can get water take ...

... they didn't do that, and there was enough friction generated by their turning to significantly act against the thousands of pounds of thrust jet engines produce, then you wouldn't be able to land any planes. That friction would cause them to be ripped off as soon as they touch the runway. Here's ...

The argument proposes an unphysical situation. Firstly remember the engines of the plane have nothing to do with the wheels. If you had the plane sitting on the runway without any wheels and it tried to take off, you would take off (assuming the plane didn't ...

Your feet would move back due to the contact force of the treadmill, and your back would move forwards due to the engines. You'd rotate and fall on your face. However, if you were Johnny 5, and your track mechanism were 'frictionless', you'd go forwards. Under ideal conditions, ...

It's like if you're running on a treadmill. If someone ('the engines') shoves you in the back, you'd go off the front of the treadmill, irrespective of the motion of your legs on the floor.

If the treadmill sped up to match the speed of your legs, you'd stay still though, non?

Yeah it takes off, naturally, because the wheels arent powering the forward motion of the plane and therefore what is (the jet engines) arent influenced by the treadmill.
