Steve says: Grrr. It's on now and it annoys me every time I see it. That game is so inherently broken that it can't even count as a gameshow. I mean anyone who shows the slightest level of knowledge gets through to the last three to boost the money then is mercilessly voted off by the other two douches who have stumbled and backstabbed their way there. It categorically punishes the best people by rewarding the stupid cowardly majority who fear actually stretching themselves.

I 'spose it reflects real life though.

Most ridiculous reason for being banned from a forum

MarzSyndrome says: I'm sure there has to be one or two people who've had a banning experience in the past, somehow. Anyhoo, here's my gem as of today:

[quote:2w5s6eny]Hi,

Please note that when using Digital Spy you agree to our Terms and Conditions, of
which paragraph 2.1 requires that other users be treated with respect.

The following comment does not comply with this because it is considered disrespectful:

'I say you should grow up...'

The thread was also off topic becuase it focused on Forum Members, rather than Big
Brother.

Your posting privileges have been permanently revoked and you are permanently banned
from Digital Spy in accordance with paragraph 9.1 of our Terms and Conditions:

'We shall have the right immediately to terminate Your use of the Digital Spy Site
if We determine in Our sole discretion that You have breached these terms and
conditions or otherwise been engaged in conduct which We determine in Our sole
discretion to be unacceptable.'

Please note that accessing this site again would be in violation of our Terms and
Conditions and we may file an abuse report with your Internet Service Provider.

------------------------------

Regards,

Digital Spy Forums[/quote:2w5s6eny]

Intriguingly, the users don't tend to treat each other with respect (I certainly wasn't treated very well) and have said far worse things than "I think you should grow up". I also made sure I was on-topic by posting in the right forum and stressfully relating my post to the subject matter in question. But apparently, while it's alright to scream bloody murder at reality TV contestants and on the odd occasion wish for full-on vigilante action against them, it's not alright to bring said warcriers to task for their sheer immaturity and total lack of putting things into perspective.

So, in effect, double-standard-minded Digital Spy prefer for people to be cunts to others, and fuck common sense sideways with a razor-edged spatula.

Oh well!

(BTW, I didn't even frequent the forum that much, and decided to take a peek this morning. Must've been time-of-the-month for one moderator.)

Goatboy says: You've got one crack at this, explanations are welcome.

I'm going to kick things off by banning the use of the world kid (incorpoating "kiddies") to mean child or children. If anyone uses the term, I assume they are a moron. It is detestable and while the past accusations of being an americanism are falsehood, one can understand why they came about.

Nirejhenge says: Basically register your interest, create a mix cd (either as a mix or as just a CD with some tracks). Create artwork if you like and then by a certain date send a copy out to two of the other random people on the forum and hopefully you'll receive two yourself. You'd be notified of their addresses via PM as the whole thing is done kind of anonymously.

On the Triforum people generally prefer not to have the track list until after they've listened so it's up to you whether you include the track list or not.

Anyone had a listen to Cristo Satanico by Asesino? Came out a little while ago, and I'm liking it more every time I hear it.[/quote:2cakm1wj]

That's no excuse not to love a band [especially Pantera]. I was only 5 when it came out. Hell, if I didn't listen to music from before I was born, I would have no idea what I would actually listen to! Granted, a quick check fo foobar suggests that 2wk1day's worth of my music was made after 1985 and only 5 or so days worth was from before, but either: A lot of those artists were 'born' before I was, or they were massively influenced and wouldn't be around without artists from before 1985.

Plus, when it comes to music, you're never to late for anything. Hell, I never ever knew who Pantera were until about 2003, and then he went and got shot :/ Does it mean I can't claim to love them, DOES IT HELL.

ps: Carry on the Metal Thread here. I believe Grim... was talking about crap music and someone was claiming Lars Ulrich to be good?!

Official BETEO Achievement Whoring Club of Gentlemen

Dimrill says: Hello chums. Who doesn't like to see a meaningless number increase? Really, that many of you. Be dears and fuck off out of this thread then. Right, now that those LOSERS have left, let's get on with business.

I was thinking of prodding a few people who like to see their Gamerpoint total increase easily into forming some sort of circle jerk of backscratching regarding certain games. For instance, Mr Dave's helped me out with Gears of War, and I've helped him out with Crackdown. Other than that, maybe this thread can serve as an "OMFG EASY POINTS!" type dealio.

With that spirit in mind, I've recently maxed out Crackdown after avoiding the stupid Street Races section as it is rock solid. However, I found an incredibly easy way to beat these sections and LO! I pass the knowledge onto you. Choose your race and start it off. Don't move a frigging muscle once the whistle goes for the off, instead jump out and high-tail it back to the Agency tower garage and grab a supercar. Drive this back to the starting line and park next to your original vehicle. Jump out, press <back and restart the race. HAH! The supercar will be right next to you! Jump into it and if you've maxed your driving skill out you can blast your opponents away with the onboard cannons. Best thing is, on the final lap don't go over the finish. Park back up next to your car and walk over the finish line. The supercar will be there for the next race on that map too.

So, games what need multiplayer cooperation evilly that I want to whore for achievements:
Saints Row
Prey (me, Dave and Myp started whoring this out, but anyone's welcome to join in)
Gears of War multiplayer
Forza 2 1 million online credits fiasco
Test Drive Unlimited club achievements!
Carcassonne
Doom 100 online kills
The Club
possibly more

So there we go. Anyone evil enough to take me up on those?

chinnyhill10 says: Here's some games (or at least versions of them) that you may not have seen before or perhaps may remember. This is an attempt to broaden the minds of you Xboxstation 3 owners who are probably all shooting up heroin while playing each other on Xboxstation Live.

Here's 3 games that I've plucked at random to evoke memories or general blank looks.

Super Pipeline 2 is a great game where you repair holes in a pipeline until the barrels fill at the bottom. The baddies follow fixed patterns and it's a polished game with good graphics and sound but is largely forgotten. But was there a Super Pipeline 1?

[youtube:1ozih2t0]eBPmSbI8OYU[/youtube:1ozih2t0]

or the C64 version (look how badly it sucks compared to the CPC version)

[youtube:1ozih2t0]aErMSg8Nhc8[/youtube:1ozih2t0]

We're all familiar with Prehistorik 1 and 2. But being a French game the publishers saw a market to produce an enhanced CPC Plus version:

[youtube:1ozih2t0]MavWmgzr2P8[/youtube:1ozih2t0]

Continental Circus was a racing game but I never rated it much. Anyone here played it and liked it? Yeah nice smooth graphics but it was dull beyond belief.

BertyBasset says: Just noticed this today. According to Gamefaqs it's out in Europe on the 12th (ie. in 6 days).

Info on Eurogamer here : http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=160803

Screenshots here : http://www.eurogamer.net/gallery.php?ga ... _id=160802

I've got a feeling this will be crap, and those screenshots don't exactly inspire confidence.
I'm not even sure there's any point in re-making it as a video-game.

Still, I'm hopeful it turns out to be fun (the DS interface is perfect for this game if it's done right). Anyone else ?

Poker Night

Craig says: Instead of creating a new thread every week I'll just stick with this one.

The game is played on the PokerRoom software found at [url:2v0jxphs]http://www.pokerroom.com/[/url:2v0jxphs]. There is a referrer programme for new registrations that give both of us an additional bonus (however unlikely it may be for you to clear it ) so if you wish to take advantage of that please PM me before you register. PokerRoom supports in-browser play that is compatible with PC, Mac and Linux so nobody should be excluded.

There is practically no limit to the amount of players that can participate so please feel free to join if you want to. The current buy-in is $1.20

You can find the private game by following the instructions below:

[i:2v0jxphs]
To find it:

1) Start the PokerRoom software or open the client in browser. REMEMBER: Your log-in is your email address not your user name.

2) Click on the Tournaments tab

3) Select 'Private'

4) Find the tournament called 'BETEO_Craig'. Ensure the 'Sit & Go' and not the Scheduled' option is selected in order to find it.

5) Enter the password 'beex' when prompted to register.
[/i:2v0jxphs]

There are two house rules that are hopefully needless to state but are worth clarifying for everyone's enjoyment.

Rebuys: There are unlimited rebuys in the first hour. This means that you can rebuy when you get low on chips. Unless we all agree before hand please only rebuy when you do get low and don't just make four rebuys at once giving yourself a huge chip lead.
[i:2v0jxphs]Clarification: (04/09/08) I'm talking, you know, around 400 chips or so? And not 1499?[/i:2v0jxphs]

Language: Witty banter is the spice of life. Calling someone a c**t for three hours is linguistic gruel.

CUS says: I didn't buy anything wildly exciting actually. However, I do sometimes find myself wanting to squeal about having bought something shiny. Perhaps a thread for the purposes of reporting such matters will be a wise and prudent addition to this community. Or not. The fullness of time shall cast judgement guy.

Today, I bought Viking and Bully for the 360; Viking because I really liked Spartan - Total Warrior last-gen, and Bully because even its buggy crashiness can't put me off. I needs my GTAish fix.

And, shockingly, my local ASDA has got rid of almost its entire fruit juice section, save for its own brands, and a couple of Del Monte types. That's just wrong.
